Mumbai :  P.K. Shrivastava, Chief Electrical Engineer, Central Railway commissioned the first retrofitted fully alternate current (AC) EMU rake made by Sanpada Car Shed from an old DC EMU rake. The rake is fit for operation in 25 KV AC section & rake is compatible with 25 AC EMU rakes of ICF built in its performance.
The cost of retrofitting work for one 12 car rake which includes electrical equipments, mechanical modification in coaches and replacement of old passenger seats, coach partition with stainless steel with improved ventilation, new fans & lights is approximately Rs.3.5 Crore as against the cost new AC rake which is Rs.24 Crore effecting a lot of cost savings. Fifteen 12-car rakes are planned to be converted from old DC rakes to AC retro rakes in near future.

New Delhi: The capital's connectivity to Manesar in Haryana and Neemrana in Rajasthan is set to get a boost as the DMICDC is working to create a rail-based Mass Rapid Transit System in this corridor. Officials said the Delhi-Manesar-Bawal-Neemrana corridor is one of the two projects in the National Capital Region, the second being a project to improve connectivity between Dadri-Noida and Ghaziabad investment region. The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation has initiated a consultation process with the Urban Development ministry for the implementation of these projects, officials said. The transportation projects are being developed with a view to link new DMICDC greenfield industrial cities to areas which serve as residential hubs for workers. Officials said a meeting would soon be held under the chairmanship of Urban Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna, which would also include officials of the Railway ministry and DMICDC to deliberate the projects. The connectivity in the NCR regions is likely to witness a huge improvement as three more Regional Rapid Transit System corridors will be developed by National Capital Region Transport Corporation.



The cabinet has recently approved the proposal of this corporation to implement RRTS corridors linking Delhi with Panipat, Alwar and Meerut.

Officials said the National Capital Region Planning Board will be holding a meeting with officials from NCR states to decide alignment of these three corridors in the last week of this month.

The main approach road to Duvvada railway station with increasing traffic continues to be choked.

The station has heavy traffic with 32 pairs of trains halting at Duvvada. Around 10 lakh people live in the steel plant, BHPV, NTPC and Zinc townships, Gajuwaka, VSEZ and three wards of GVMC and 14 nearby villages use the railway station.The 2 km approach road is hardly enough to allow smooth flow of traffic with thousands of commuters and VSEZ employees with frequent traffic jams, says Gajuwaka MLA Chintalapudi Venkataramaiah.Though heavy vehicles were not allowed in peak hours they also move in wrong direction from Mustafa Junction to the auto stand.

Generally, autos are parked in the middle of the road right from the RTC Bus Stop, with shopkeepers and hawkers encroaching upon the rest of the road leaving hardly any parking space.Aggressive driving, overtaking and driving in the wrong direction had resulted in injuries to some persons and few died in accidents, Mr. Venkataramaiah said in letters to Police Commissioner B. Shivdhar Reddy and Visakhapatnam MP and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari.

The MLA urged them to take up the issue with the VSEZ and to widen the 2 km-long road to 100 feet. He wanted the necessary funds to be released.

He urged the Police Commissioner to deploy traffic constables to avoid accidents and heavy fines be imposed on violators of traffic rules.

Mr. Venkatramaiah urged the VUDA Vice-Chairman to take steps for widening the existing 30-feet road from Aganampudi to National Highway junction to 100-feet.

Venkataramaiah seeks deployment of traffic constables on the road

Two more arrests have been made in connection with the Railway Protection Force exam paper leak last month. Both are accused of providing answer keys to the candidates appearing in the exam and one of them is a Delhi Police constable. A senior police officer said that during interrogation one of the candidates, who was arrested earlier, had revealed that he had struck a deal with Jai Karan who assured him that he would arrange answer keys for the RPF exam in lieu of a certain sum of money. A raid was conducted at Meerut and Jai Karan was arrested on July 6.“Another accused candidate, who had been arrested, revealed that he had received the answer keys from three mobile phone numbers through text messages. One such mobile number, was traced to Mohit who is a constable in Delhi Police and posted at the Defence Colony police station,” said the officer.The officer said that Mohit, besides confessing his involvement, also revealed that one Pawan is known for running recruitment rackets in Western Uttar Pradesh. Pawan had contacted Mohit and the two had struck a deal under which Mohit was to provide the answers and charge Rs. 3 lakh.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister for Railways laid the Foundation Stone for doubling of Railway line between Hospet-Tinaighat section (245 Kms) at 3-00 p.m., on Saturday, the 13th July, 2013 at Londa High School Grounds, Londa.

The Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Tinaighat (245 km) is a section of Bellary-Hospet-Vasco-da-gama route (407 kms) of South Western Railway. This was converted from Metre Gauge to Broad Gauge during 1997 and the section is saturated with current level of traffic.

The railway line passes through Bellary, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Belgaum and Uttara Kannada districts of Karnataka State. Bellary-Hospet region in Karnataka is the heart of Iron ore industry in the country. Iron ore is an important export commodity, earning valuable foreign exchange for the country. Iron ore from this region is transported to Chennai and Goa ports for export. The doubling of railway track is also necessary to move imported coal from Marmagao Port to the Steel industries and upcoming Thermal Power Plants in Jevargi In Gulbarga District, Thermal Expansion Phase-2 in Bellary Dist. in North Karnataka. Thus, it is important to increase the capacity of the existing Rail network to handle additional traffic demand necessary to sustain the country’s economic growth. The doubling will also increase number of passenger trains connecting important Tourist destinations like Goa in the west to the World heritage site of Hampi in the East and help in promoting tourism in the North Karnataka.

Considering potential traffic in the future, the Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco-da-Gama(407 Km) doubling was sanctioned by Railway Board at a total cost of Rs.2,127 Crs. in 2010-11. The work of Hospet-Tinaighat (245 km) is being taken up under Phase-I, with a cost of Rs.928.85 Crs. The final location survey is now in progress in the Castle Rock-Kulem ghat section. This project is partially funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (A Govt. of India Enterprise) is the implementing Agency.

On completion of the project, more passenger trains could be introduced in this section to facilitate easy movement of passengers to visit tourist places rich in heritage.

Jammu, July 13: After breaching many deadlines, the much awaited 25-km Udhampur-Katra railway track is likely to be thrown open for traffic in September.

Officials of Northern Railways told that the construction work on 8 tunnels, including 185 feet high tunnel, and 30 small and big bridges is complete and the track is ready for running the trains.

“In August the authorities would handover the track to Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) and after its approval the trains will be allowed  to run,” they said.

“Safety clearance from CRS is mandatory for making new line operational,” they said, adding that the Chairman Railway Board and General Manager of Northern Railway will conduct thorough inspection of the hilly route before it is made operational.

They said all the formalities would be completed before upcoming Navrtaras. “The pilgrims to Vaishno Devi who have planned to visit during Navratra would directly arrive at Katra base camp in trains without any break in their journey.”

An engineer who has been associated with this work, said: “Around 80 per cent of the route runs through tunnels and bridges. The terrain is so tough and we faced lot of geological challenges due to which work got delayed. But now we have completed our task. The minor work to be done would be completed in July itself,” he said.

“The most difficult challenges we faced were when we found a water body during construction of tunnel number 3 and the collapse of 3-km portion of tunnel number 1 near Udhampur as well as seepage in three other tunnels beyond Katra,” he said.

“The construction work was brought to halt in 2006 when engineers came across a water body in the middle of the alignment of the 2.4 km long tunnel no. 3,” he said, adding that with this the design of the tunnel had to be changed.

“In 2011 work was once again stopped when tunnel number 1 collapsed and other tunnels also faced seepage problem,” he added.

Pertinently, the inauguration of the 25-km long railway track by Prime Minster on June 25 was postponed because the Chairman Railway Board had found some technical snag along the track. Earlier, the rail link between Udhampur and Katra was scheduled to be completed by 2005. The survey on the 25-km Udhampur-Katra rail project was conducted in 1998 but the actual groundwork was started in 1999 setting 2005 as deadline to connect Katra with the rest of the country. Sources said that the Katra Railway station has also been completed with modern facilities including tourist guide counter, cloak room, waiting hall, VIP lounge, escalators and lifts, besides parking space on either side.

They said that the Railway authorities were  mulling to extend Jammu mail and Samparak Kranti trains up to Katra, besides introducing new trains including Katra-Kalka (Chandigarh) Express (bi-weekly), Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udhampur Express, (fully air-conditioned) and Ahmedabad-Udhampur Express.

They said a set of local trains from Jammu to Katra and Pathankot to Katra are also likely to be introduced to cater to the rush of Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims from Jammu and Pathankot to Katra

With effect from 01st September,2013,Train Nos.16533/16534 JODHPUR-BANGALORE CITY-JODHPUR EXPRESS will run with revised composition of total 23 coaches,comprising of Twelve Second Class Sleeper Class coaches, Two AC 2-tier coaches, Three AC 3-tier coaches, Three General Second Class coaches, Two Second Class luggage-cum-brake vans-cum-Disabled coaches and a Pantry Car, from both the directions.

Mumbai : The Central Railway (CR) has commissioned its first self- made Direct Current (DC) to Alternative Current (AC) rake on Sunday morning. The conversion of the overhead head equipment was completed in Sanpada Carshed on Saturday.

Although the train will be running from Lonavala to Pune, the conversion will help the CR officials monitor and judge the increase in speed once the train finishes its run. The estimated decrease in time is by 10 minutes. It currently takes an hour to reach Pune from Lonavala. AC is very important as the CR plans to run AC trains from Kurla to Kalyan and Kasara soon.
The CR has been working to change their line from DC to AC and has completed a test charge from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Kalyan a month back. The CR hopes to complete this switch this year. Currently, the CR is running partial DC-AC rakes, which means a train from CST to Andheri or Bandra switches to AC between Vadala and Kings Circle.

AC trains will help increase the speed of the suburban locals and decrease breakdown of the overhead equipment disrupting services. The conversion will also cut down the loss in transmission of energy thereby saving electricity.

The CR, which will be getting 30 Bombadier AC rakes to convert the CR main to AC, is changing the overhead equipment of 15 DC rakes since it will need more once the line switches to AC. CR’s Chief Public Relations officer, Atul Rane, said, “People will reach Pune faster by trains and the lack of AC rakes which was foreseen once we shift to AC can be solved to certain extent.” “We have completed work on this rake and the overhead equipment of another 14 rakes are being changed in various carsheds on the CR,” he added. The CR has been waiting for safety clearances from the Railway Safety Office in order to start the LTT to Kasara and Karjat services on AC. A source who does not want to be named said, “DC trains have a life of 25 years and many of them still have 10 years of life on them, these are the ones that the CR has decided to convert to pure AC.”

“This is because the 30 Bombadier rakes are just not enough to keep up with the number of rakes and services that will be required once the system is converted to AC traction.”

पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया कि मेट्रो में अश्लील हरकत रिकॉर्ड करने वालों की आवाज क्लिप में है। यू-ट्यूब पर इस एमएमएस को अपलोड करने की तारीख पता कर मेट्रो ट्रेन के ऑपरेटरों से इस आवाज का मिलान कराने के बारे में विचार किया जा रहा है। इस एमएमएस को अपलोड करने की तारीख और जगह बताने के लिए यू-ट्यूब को क्राइम ब्रांच लिख चुकी है। पुलिस अफसरों के मुताबिक यू-ट्यूब को उस कंप्यूटर का आई. पी. अड्रेस बताने के लिए भी कहा गया है, जिससे इस एमएमएस को अपलोड किया गया था। वैसे, अभी तक यू-ट्यूब से जवाब नहीं आया है।

पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया कि इस एमएमएस को बनाने के दौरान एक से ज्यादा अभियुक्तों की आवाजें इसमें सुनाई पड़ रही हैं। पुलिस अफसर मान रहे हैं कि मेट्रो ट्रेन ऑपरेटरों के कोच में सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फीड से रिकॉर्डिंग करने में इस्तेमाल मोबाइल फोन का कैमरा बेहतर मेगा पिक्सल का नहीं था। इसीलिए एमएमएस साफ नहीं है, जबकि मेट्रो में लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरे 520 टीवी लाइन के हैं। इन कैमरों की रिकॉर्डिंग बेहद साफ होती है। ये कैमरे कोच में घूमते रहते हैं, जबकि रिकॉर्डिंग के दौरान कैमरा स्थिर है। क्राइम ब्रांच को शक है कि मेट्रो के ट्रेन ऑपरेटरों ने कैमरे की फुटेज में अश्लील हरकत देखकर कैमरा स्थिर कर यह रिकॉर्डिंग की थी। मेट्रो में लगे सीसीटीवी आवाज रिकॉर्ड नहीं करते।


सीक्रेट गैजेट्स के जानकार 'एडर डिटेक्टिव्ज प्राइवेट लिमिटेड' के मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर संजीव देसवाल के मुताबिक, एमएमएस में सुनाई पड़ रही अभियुक्तों की आवाजों का मिलान फॉरेंसिक जांच में हो सकता है। वेबसाइटों पर इन सभी एमएमएस की अपलोडिंग की तारीख के आसपास जॉब में रहे मेट्रो ट्रेन के ऑपरेटरों की आवाजों से मिलान कर अभियुक्तों की पहचान की जा सकती है। पुलिस को रोहिणी स्थित फॉरेंसिक लैब की हालत देखते हुए आवाजों के मिलान में लंबा वक्त लगने की आशंका है। दूसरी समस्या यह है कि मेट्रो में एक वक्त में 500 से ज्यादा ट्रेन ऑपरेटर होते हैं। इतने ऑपरेटरों की आवाजों का मिलान भी मुश्किल माना जा रहा है। क्राइम ब्रांच के अडिशनल कमिश्नर रवींद्र सिंह यादव ने बताया कि फिलहाल हर एंगल से जांच की जा रही है।
