Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today asked the Railway Ministry to expedite implementation of pending rail projects in the state to improve connectivity and spur economic growth.

In a meeting with Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, Sarkar sought immediate release of funds for laying of new tracks between Agartala and Sabroom and the Lumding-Silchar- Agartala gauge conversion project.

He also asked the Railway Minister to ensure expeditious implementation of the project to link Agartala with Akhaura in neighbouring Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh had signed a MoU on May 21 for the project. Of the 15.054 km railway track, only 5 km fall in Indian side and the rest is in Bangladesh.

During Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to New Delhi in January 2010, the two countries had agreed to lay the tracks between Akhaura and Agartala.

Sarkar told Kharge that Bangladesh government had already started the land acquisition process while the same was yet to start on the Indian side.

He also demanded setting up of a Railway division office in Tripura.

Tripura government officials said Kharge told Sarkar that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would soon hold a meeting with his ministry to take stock of implementation of various key railway projects.

Acting chairman of Railway Board Arunendra Kumar, who was also present in the meeting, said the ministry was working on the Agartala-Akhaura Railway link project.

जागरण संवाददाता, लखनऊ : उत्तर रेलवे लखनऊ मंडल के निलंबित मुख्य टिकट निरीक्षक एके बाली एक्सेस फेयर टिकट (ईएफटी) की जीराक्स कॉपी करवाकर यात्रियों से जुर्माना महीनों से वसूल रहे थे। इनमें से वसूला गया पचास फीसद राजस्व बाली के बैंक खाते में जाता था और बचा हुआ पैसा रेलवे के राजस्व में। कानपुर से लखनऊ आई जीआरपी टीम ने स्टेशन पर सुपरवाइजरों से पूछताछ की। टीम ने मंडल के वरिष्ठ वाणिज्य अधिकारियों को भी पूरे मामले से अवगत कराया। 1गुरुवार को कानपुर से लखनऊ पहुंची टीम के मुताबिक मुख्य टिकट निरीक्षक पद पर तैनात रहे एके बाली के कारनामे के बारे में मुंबई की विजिलेंस टीम को उस वक्त पता लगा था जब कुछ यात्रियों के पास से ईएफटी की जीराक्स कॉपी मिली थी। मुंबई के टिकट कलेक्टर द्वारा जमा की गई इन रसीदों की जब जांच की गई तो मामले का खुलासा हुआ। मुंबई के अधिकारियों ने विजिलेंस इंस्पेक्टर आरआर करुर के नेतृत्व में एक टीम गठित की। टीम ने झांसी तक यात्रियों की जांच की। जांच में फिर कई यात्रियों के पास ईएफटी की जीराक्स कॉपी मिली। सभी टीटीई की ईएफटी रसीद जांची गई। ट्रेन में चल रहे किसी भी टीटीई के पास कोई जीराक्स कॉपी नहीं मिली। टीम ने लखनऊ में टारगेट किया तो मामले का खुलासा हुआ। 1कैसे फंसे एके बाली : मुंबई से आई विजिलेंस टीम ने अपने आरपीएफ सिपाही को लखनऊ से मुंबई का एक जनरल टिकट खरीदवाया। फिर संदेह के आधार पर उत्तर रेलवे लखनऊ मंडल के मुख्य टिकट निरीक्षक से चलती हुई ट्रेन में स्लीपर का टिकट बनाने को कहा। बाली ने आंख मूंदकर ईएफटी की जीराक्स कॉपी निकालकर रसीद काट दी, जबकि मूल रसीद को छुआ तक नहीं। टीम ने रसीद अपने कब्जे में लेकर तुरंत जांच की तो मामला पूरा फर्जी निकला। जांच में बाली के पास से हजारों रुपये भी बरामद हुए।

HYDERABAD: Landmark buildings on the Begumpet main road are disappearing to make way for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Last week, it was the turn of White House, Lifestyle and Varun Motors, landmark buildings on either end of the Begumpet flyover, to receive the notices from the GHMC.

Although the demolitions will be partial, it is enough to change the contours of the city as its landmarks will not be the same as before. According to the notice, of the three blocks comprising White House, at least half of the first block adjoining the road will have to be demolished. Likewise, the open space belonging to Lifestyle building is to be acquired for the metro rail project leaving little space for passage and setback. As it would reduce the mandatory floor area ratio (FAR), there is a possibility that the Lifestyle building may have to forego one floor in order to comply with the building norms. And in the case of Varun Motors, more than half of the building would have to be demolished. Apart from these structures, Country Club has also been served with the land acquisition notice and will have to forego a major chunk of open space for the rail project.

The property owners of White House and Lifestyle received the land acquisition notice last week issued by the GHMC authority in-charge of the metro rail project. They have been given time till July 29 to file their objections and the owners are getting ready with the argument that the metro alignment has been designed with a sharp curvature near Begumpet just to save the chief minister’s camp office because of which their land is being taken away.

“Studying the metro rail alignment plan, it is clear that the curvature given to it is very sharp and not in line with the set standards. This has resulted in the taking away of our land in an unfair manner. We are dismayed that this is being done just to save the CM’s camp office building from demolition,” Suraj Prasad Agarwal, owner of White House building.

While the minimum radius of curvature allowed for the metro rail alignment is 120 metres at any turning, in the case of the one near the CM’s camp office, the radius of curvature has been relaxed to 100 metres because of which the train has to slowdown at that point before picking up speed again. The property owners rue that this deviation has resulted in a gratuitous demolition of the buildings which have been landmarks in Begumpet for almost two decades.

NOIDA: The future of Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) has become uncertain because the UP state government has asked for technical and operational support from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for construction of the proposed 29-km-long metro link between Noida and Greater Noida. Noida Authority has demanded the terms of reference from DMRC for construction, technical and other operational work. Notably, Delhi government had also recently raised the issue that expansion work of metro into NCR areas has been affecting its own operations in Delhi.

The experts say that Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit has already expressed that DMRC should not take up projects outside Delhi. Amidst such circumstances the future of NDMC is hangling like pendulum.

Forming of Noida metro rail company (NMRC) is not likely to off-load Delhi metro rail corporation’s (DMRC) of its work burden, and speed-up work on a 29 kilometers long proposed metro link, which will connect Noida’s City Center with Greater Noida’s Bodaki officials said on Thursday.

A senior official said that the Noida authority has requested that DMRC submit terms of reference of the construction work on the 29 kilometers long proposed stand alone route. On explain the reason behind the development the official said that with the consent of the state and centre government it is easy to form NMRC but the kind of expertise of construction DMRC has which NMRC will not carry. “There is need of construction, technical and operations. Without such kind of experts, investing a huge amount in the project will be a bad idea. Considering the fact, we have asked DMRC to work on the terms of reference.”

Terms of reference or a detailed project charter outlining the various facets of NMRC’s ambitious project. “Terms of reference describe the purpose and structure of a project, committee, meeting, negotiation, or any similar collection of people who have agreed to work together to accomplish a shared goal. We have so far planned that initially the DMRC would start construction work of a project till the UP state will form its own metro rail construction company,” the official said.

“NDMC will have to start from zero and initially it would not be possible to run the show alone hence we will need help of some experts. We are going to send a proposal to DMRC to submit a terms of reference because DMRC has huge track record of construction, maintenance and on time delivery,” the official added.

Meanwhile, the authority has also sought Uttar Pradesh government approvals to make way for formation of NMRC. On elaborating the structure of NMRC, the official said that there will be 12 board of directors. Out of 12, there will be four directors from Uttar Pradesh government and similarly the Centre government will depute four directors while the Urban development ministry secretary will be the chairman of the corporation.

Besides, the authority sought 50 per cent of budget for NMRC from centre. “Both Noida and Greater Noida will raise 50 % of funds. We want remaining 50 % to be funded by center. Noida will have 70 % stake out of 50 per cent. And Greater Noida’s share is going to be 30 % in NMRC formation and building 29 kilometers long, which will cost R 5, 500 crore,” said official.

The experts say that it is easy to declare of forming a corporation like DMRC but running a show like DMRC is not an easy task. “If the DMRC will construct the line then what will be the job of NMRC, which was supposed to off load DMRC’s work. Delhi CM Sheila Dixit has already expressed that DMRC should not take up projects outside Delhi. Bhubaneswar, July 18 (PTI) For the convenience of passengers especially devotees and to cater additional rush on Sunavesha Festival tomorrow at Puri, East Coast Railway has decided to run special trains from different places excluding the existing trains coming to the holy town.

Apart from this, some trains will be rescheduled, diverted and extended till Puri for the "Sunavesha" festival.

VIJAYAWADA: The South Central Railway (SCR) has got its first woman guard on freight trains.

D Mohini Kumari (43), a graduate who was appointed a clerk in SCR on compassionate ground in 2006 after the death of her husband, took charge of her new assignment.

She qualified for the post of guard in a departmental examination and later underwent training at Secunderabad.

Talking to PTI, Mohini said she is prepared to face any kind of challenge in her new job, where women are rarely appointed.

She advised women to break new grounds and be ready to face challenges in life.
