BILASPUR: Bilaspur railway station, one of the busiest junctions of South East Central Railway (SECR) is getting a facelift and boost in passenger amenities with the commissioning of its first escalator and a misting system next month."The escalator will be inaugurated on Independence Day", SECR divisional railway manager L C Trivedi told TOI."It is a big achievement in provisioning modern passenger amenities segment. After successful trials and inspection, the escalator facility would be open for passengers," he said.Referring to installation of misting system in platform number one, Trivedi said installation of cool wave breezer would bring relief during scorching heat in summers and humidity of monsoon.The system would only be the second of its kind in the country, the first one being operational at Raipur railway station. |

Nagpur: In view of heavy rains, railway traffic have been disrupted between Sindi and Tuljapur stations on the Nagpur-Wardha section of Central Railway. Ballast under the tracks and a minor bridge were washed away completely along the stretch which received heavy rainfall yesterday, leading to cancellation of ten mail and passenger trains, CR sources said. These trains are: Nagpur-Mumbai Nandigram Express, Amravati?Ajni Intercity Express, Nagpur?Amravati Passenger, Mumbai?Nagpur Duronto Express, Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express, Nagpur-Mumbai Sewagram Express, Nagpur-Pune Express, Mumbai-Nagpur Sewagram express, Mumbai-Nagpur Express and Pune? Nagpur Garibrath Express.More than 300 workers are engaged in restoration work on a war footing, the sources said, adding that south and north bound super-fast trains were diverted via Itarsi, Khandwa and Bhusawal. |

The Railways has announced the closure of the level crossings between Ponmalai and Tiruverumbur railway stations on July 23 and 24 to facilities track relaying works. The level crossing numbers 321 and 322 between Ponmalai and Tiruverumbur will be closed for road traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 23. Level crossing numbers 323 and 324 will remain closed between Ponmalai and Tiruverumbur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 24. |

मुंबई में 12 घंटे तक लगातार बारिश से वेस्टर्न और सेंट्रल लाइन पर लोकल लेट चली। मौसम विभाग ने 4 मीटर ऊंचे हाईटाइड का अलर्ट जारी किया है। रा\'य के बाकी इलाकों में भी बारिश हो रही है। नागपुर और वर्धा के बीच तुलजापुर में पटरी बह गई। रेलवे को आवाजाही बंद करनी पड़ी। पड़ोसी रा\'य छत्तीसगढ़ में भी रेल यातायात प्रभावित हुआ है। इससे लंबी दूरी की ट्रेनों को बदले हुए रास्तों से चलाना पड़ा। |

Alappuzha: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, K.C.Venugopal said that all rail level crossings passing through the Alappuzha Parliamentary constituency would be manned soon.Talking to reporters here on Saturday, after chairing a meeting of railway authorities, Venugopal said that 101level crossings out of a total of 103 in the constituency had already been manned.“There are only two left and that too will be manned shortly. Underpasses will be constructed at ten level crossings. When that happens this will turn into a constituency with fully manned rail level crossings,” he said.Venugopal said that steps for acquiring the land for the rail wagon factory promised in the 2011 Union Railway budget would begin soon. The Railway authorities would hand over the letter related to land acquisition on Monday. “Land acquisition will begin urgently,” he said. |

More than seven months after Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy had announced at a public function in Visakhapatnam that a halt would be provided for 12739/40 Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Garibrath at Duvvada, the Railway Board now says: “there is no such proposal, at present, to provide a stoppage to the train at Duvvada.”People’s representatives of Visakhapatnam had been submitting representations to the Waltair Division authorities in this regard for the past few years and the same were reportedly forwarded to the East Coast Railway (E Co R) Zone headquarters in Bhubaneswar. |
