The railway police arrested a Ticket Examiner (TTE) for allegedly trying to molest a female passenger on board the Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Express here on Sunday.

R Rajan, 46, son of Raghavan, Chembarathy house, Edacherry near Vadakara in Kozhikode district, was arrested by the Kasargod railway police in connection with the complaint lodged by a 23-year-old nurse from Kottayam.

According to the railway police, the complainant alleged that the TTE tried to sexually abuse her on the moving train early on Sunday morning. She was travelling along with two friends in S7 coach of the Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Express. The TTE attempted to sexually abuse her around 4 am as she was fast asleep when the train reached Kasargod. The police recorded the statement of the woman when the train reached Kannur around 5.30 am and took the accused into custody.

हार्बर मार्गावर पनवेलहून सीएसटीकडे जाणा-या एका लोकलमध्ये बिघाड झाल्याने पनवेल-सीएसटी मार्गावरील रेल्वे वाहतूक काही काळासाठी ठप्प झाली आहे. यामुळे प्रवाशांचा खोळंबा झाला.

पनवेलहून सीएसटीकडे जाणा-या एका लोकलमध्ये रे-रोड-डॉकयार्ड स्टेशन दरम्यान तांत्रिक बिघाड झाल्याने या मार्गावरील वाहतूक ठप्प झाली. यामुळे सीएसटीकडे जाणारे चाकरमानी प्रवासी संतापले. बिघडलेल्या लोकलमध्ये दुरुस्ती करण्यासाठी रेल्वेचे कर्मचारी पोहोचले असून लवकरच या मार्गावरील वाहतूक सुरळीत होण्याची शक्यता वर्तवण्यात येत आहे.

ब्रिटिशांच्या काळापासून रूळांवरून रूबाबदारपणे धावणारी शकुंतला रेल्वे आता विजनवासात गेली आहे. अतिवृष्टीचे कारण देत मध्य रेल्वेच्या भुसावळ मंडळाने यवतमाळ-मूर्तिजापूर मार्गावरील ही रेल्वेसेवा बंद केली आहे. मात्र हा रेल्वे मार्ग पूर्णपणे सुस्थितीत आहे. या मार्गाची देखरेख दारव्हा येथील इंजिनीअर व त्यांचे सहकारी करतात. त्यांच्याकडून हा मार्ग वाहतुकीसाठी अयोग्य असल्याचा कोणताही अहवाल भुसावळ मंडळाला पाठविलेला नाही. मात्र रेल्वे अधिकाऱ्यांनी मार्ग अयोग्य असल्याचे नमूद करीतच सेवा बंद केली आहे.

पूर्वी पावसामुळे अडाण नदीला पूर येत होता. त्यावेळी यवतमाळ-अकोला प्रवास करण्यासाठी शकुंतला नॅरोगेज रेल्वेच प्रवाशांसाठी आधार होती. त्यामुळे शकुंतलेच्या प्रवासी संख्येत सतत वाढच होत होती. अचानक रेल्वेने ही सेवा बंद केल्याने या मार्गावर प्रवास करणाऱ्या सामान्यांची गैरसोय होणार आहे.

लोकप्रतिनिधींचे मौन

शकुंतला रेल्वेचा मार्ग ब्रॉडगेज व्हावा , यासाठी अमरावतीचे खासदार आनंदराव अडसूळ , खासदार भावना गवळी प्रयत्नरत होते. खासदारांचे स्वीय सहाय्यक सुनील भालेराव हे भुसावळ मंडळाचे रेल्वे सदस्य आहेत. मात्र या सर्वांना अंधारात ठेवत भुसावळ ‌मंडळाने ही सेवा बंद केली आहे.

HUBLI: South Western Railway has provided temporary stoppages at various stations for different trains in Bangalore division which have been extended up to December 31.

Train number 12027 Chennai-Bangalore City Shatabdi Express and 12028 Bangalore City-Chennai Shatabdi Express will continue providing temporary stoppage at Bangalore Cantonment. 16232 Mysore-Mayiladuturai Daily Express, 16231Mayiladuturai-Mysore Daily Express, 6517/16523 Yeshwantpur-Kannur/Karwar Express and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-Yeshwantpur Express provide stoppage at Kengeri.

16527 Yeshwantpur-Kannur Express and 16528 Kannur-Yeshwantpur Express provide stoppage at Banaswadi while 16732(16236) Mysore-Tuticorin Express, 16731(16235) Tuticorin-Mysore Express, 12677 Bangalore-Ernakulam Express, 12678 Ernakulam-Bangalore Express,16527 Yeshvantpur-Kannur Express and 16528 Kannur-Ernakulam Express provide stoppage at Karmelaram. 56213 Chamarajanagar-Tirupati Passenger and 56214 Tirupati-Chamarajanagar Passenger give stoppage at Tyakal.

Bangalore-Kakinada Express, 22602 Chennai-Sai Nagar Shirdi Express, 22601 Sai Nagar Shirdi-Chennai Express provide stoppage at Malur, 17307 Mysore-Bagalkot Basava Express and 17308 Bagalkot-Mysore Basava Express at Gouribidnur.

DHARMAPURI: A major train accident was averted near Dharmapuri on Sunday morning after a crack that developed on the railway track between Palacode and Marandahalli in Dharmapuri district was spotted in time. The pilot of a passenger train reported to railway officials after he heard an unusual sound coming from the track while he passed through the damaged area, railway sources said. A passenger train was plying between Yashwantpur near Bangalore and Salem railway junction. "The train usually leaves Salem railway junction at 5.20am and reaches Yashwantpur at 11am. It departs from Yashwantpur at 3.45pm and reaches Salem at 9.30pm," said an officer from Salem railway division. On Sunday, the train was heading towards Yashwantpur when the pilot noticed the anomaly. "The pilot immediately informed Rayakottai railway station," the officer said.

Railway officials found a crack on the track due to bolt damage. A bolt was fitted to connect tracks and the track was welded along with the clamp. But the bolt was damaged due to poor maintenance. When the train was crossing that particular area, the welding was damaged, resulting in a crack on the track, the officer said.

Technical staff sent from Bangalore repaired the track. Traffic was held up for about an hour and many trains between Bangalore and Salem were rescheduled.

LUDHIANA: There is good news for Ludhianvistravelling frequently to Delhi by Shatabdi Express. The railway minister MallikarjunKharge has announced in Rohtak on Sunday that the Shatabdi train between Ludhiana and Delhi will now run seven days a week. The express train will also have a stoppage at Jind in Haryana, the Union minister told mediapersons there. Kharge was in Rohtak to lay the foundation for the Rs181croreRohtak railway bypass line. Says R K Sharma, Station Superintendent at the city railway station: "As of now, the Ludhiana Shatabdi runs on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. On two days, Monday and Saturday, it runs to and from Moga, whereas on Tuesday and Friday, the train plies between the city and Delhi. Now that the railway minister has announced that the train will run on all seven days, it is good news for city residents who travel by Shatabdi."

Meanwhile, residents who frequently travel by Ludhiana Shatabdi are happy over the announcement of the railway minister on the train being made daily.

Says Pradeep Dhall, a real estate advisor of Vikas Nagar: "It is great news for all Ludhianvis, as it will increase the option for travelling to Delhi in Shatabdi on all seven days. It will especially help the business community who face problems due to the inadequate number of fast trains between the city and Delhi."

Though the business community has welcomed the announcement made by the railway minister, they also want that the authorities to increase coaches in the Amritsar Shatabdi which runs through the Ludhiana.

पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे के वरिष्ठ मंडल वाणिज्य प्रबंधक आशीष भाटिया ने शनिवार को यहां बताया कि कोलकाता-आगरा एवं गोरखपुर-अहमदाबाद साप्ताहिक एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों के फेरे शीघ्र बढ़ा दिए जाएंगे। रेलवे अधिकारियों ने दो अगस्त को उत्सर्ग एक्सप्रेस के संचालन समारोह की तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप दिया।
वरिष्ठ मंडल वाणिज्य प्रबंधक आशीष भाटिया ने बताया कि कोलकाता एवं अहमदाबाद तक फर्रुखाबाद होकर चल रहीं दोनों साप्ताहिक ट्रेनों के फेरे बढ़ाने के लिए प्रस्ताव विचाराधीन है। दो अतिरिक्त रेक मांगी गई हैं। शीघ्र ही यह दोनों ट्रेनें सप्ताह में दो दिन चलाई जाएंगी। उन्होंने बताया कि कानपुर-आनंद विहार तक प्रस्तावित साप्ताहिक ट्रेन का संचालन रेक मिलते ही शुरू करा दिया जाएगा।
दो अगस्त को दोपहर विदेश मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद फर्रुखाबाद-छपरा एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाएंगे। विदेश मंत्री के लिए प्लेटफार्म नंबर पांच पर पक्का मंच बनाया जाएगा। उस पर वाटर प्रूफ सीलिंग लगाया जाएगा। वीआईपी लाज में एसी लगाया जाएगा।
अपर मंडल रेल प्रबंधक सोमेश कुमार व अन्य अधिकारियों ने भी रेलवे स्टेशन का निरीक्षण किया। ट्रेन संचालन समारोह में रेलवे महाप्रबंधक कृष्ण कुमार अटल, डीआरएम उमेश सिंह व अन्य अधिकारी मौजूद रहे।
