MANGALORE: In order to cater to the extra rush of passengers during the ensuing Ganpati Festival, Konkan Railway, in co-ordination with Western Railway has introduced special trains between Bandra-Madgaon-Bandra and Ahemdabad-Madgaon-Ahemdabad.

Train 09009 Bandra Madgoan will operate on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from September 2 to 21. It will start from Bandra terminus at 12.15 am and reach Madgoan at 4.30 pm the same day. Train 09010 Madgoan Bandra will operate on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from September 2 to 21. It will start from Madgaon at 8 pm and reach Bandra terminus at 1.20 pm the next day.

The trains will halt at Andheri, Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon,Khed, Chiplun, Savarda, Sangmeshwar, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road,Kankavali, Sindhudurg,kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Pernem, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon. The train will have 18 coaches.

लखनऊ। मेट्रो रेल निर्माण कार्य में मदद करने वाली संस्था की तेजी से तलाश शुरू कर दी गई है। फिलहाल इसके लिए अर्ध सरकारी कंपनी रेल इंडिया टेक्निकल एंड इकोनॉमिक सर्विस (राइट्स) सबसे आगे चल रही है और उसे ही काम सौंपे जाने की तैयारी है। कंपनी दुनिया के 55 से अधिक देशों की महत्वपूर्ण परियोजनाओं में मदद कर चुकी है और भारतीय रेलवे के अंतर्गत काम कर रही है। लखनऊ मेट्रो के लिए बनाई गई हाईपावर कमेटी के समक्ष इस कंपनी को अंतरिम कंसल्टेंट बनाए जाने को लेकर विचार किया गया है। बहुत जल्द ही कंपनी के फाइनल किए जाने की उम्मीद की जा रही है।
एलएमआरसी का गठन किए जाने के बाद मेट्रो के तमाम शुरुआती कागजी कार्य कंसल्टेंट की मदद से किए जाएंगे। इन जरूरी कामों में डीएमआरसी के एलाइनमेंट का मौके पर परीक्षण किया जाना, डिपो की डिजाइनिंग, जनरल कंसल्टेंट के लिए टेंडर डॉक्यूमेंट तैयार करना, सारे एलाइनमेंट के लिए जमीन का रिकॉर्ड तैयार करना आदि शामिल हैं। डॉक्यूमेंटेशन के काम के लिए अंतरिम कंसल्टेंट के रूप में केंद्र सरकार की संस्था राइट्स के चुने जाने की उम्मीद है। मेट्रो सेल की ओर से इस आशय का प्रस्ताव लखनऊ मेट्रो रेल कॉरपोरेशन के समक्ष रखा गया है। राइट्स के बारे में कहा जा रहा है कि वह इस काम को लेकर विशेषज्ञ संस्था है।

दुनिया भर में राइट्स का नाम
राइट्स ने इस तरह की कंसल्टेंसी का काम दुनिया के 55 से अधिक देशों में किया है। रेलवे के अधीन इस अर्धसरकारी कंपनी का मुख्यालय गुड़गांव में है। अफ्रीका, लैटिन अमेरिका, एशिया के अनेक देशों की बड़ी ढांचागत परियोजनाओं में राइट्स ने महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। इन परियोजनाओं में मेट्रो, रेल नेटवर्क, ट्रांसपोर्टेशन जैसे काम शामिल हैं और कंपनी ने वहां की सरकारों को मदद की है। मेट्रो सेल से जुड़े एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि फिलहाल राइट्स के नाम पर विचार किया गया है। वह सबसे आगे है। मगर अन्य कंपनियों के बारे में भी विचार किया जा सकता है

Seeking to provide a hassle free transportation to commuters, a proposal for suburban trains in Kerala has been submitted to the government by the local railways division.The Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division has submitted the proposal to the government for setting up a ‘suburban rail corridor’. The suburban train service, on the model of various metro cities, would be a solution to the mounting traffic congestion on national highways and other roads in the state, Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agarwal told a ‘meet-the-press’ here.“Thiruvananthapuram is a larger agglomeration of various suburban stations like Pettah, Kochu Veli, Kazhakkoottam and so on. If we have suburban train service connecting them, it will provide people relentless mobility,” Agarwal said.It would also be a solution to meet the increasing passenger inflow, he said noting that metro cities like Mumbai and Chennai have large number of suburban trains providing short distance services.On the demands for increasing the number of trains from and to the Division, he said, 15 to 20 trains had been added in the last two years and they were planning to add 10 more trains in a year.“Kerala will soon become the first state in the country to have the status of ‘zero unmanned rail crossings. It is also perhaps the only division in the country achieving 100 per cent computerisation in ticketing,” he said.

To make railway stations more people-friendly, the division is planning to set up escalators and elevators and they had been granted permission for 30 escalators and 15 lifts, the official added.

Limited number of platforms, large number of trains and Railways' adamant approach in keeping Shatabdi Express parked on platform No. 1 for a better part of the day is causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers arriving in the holy city daily. Other trains are consequently made to wait for hours on the outskirts of the city.The Railways had to recently pay Rs 32,000 to Jatinderpal Singh on the directions of the Amritsar Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum. He said he was travelling with his family in Hirakund Express from Ambala to Amritsar on March 27, 2011. However, the train was stopped at the unscheduled Manawala station, near Amritsar. While other trains were allowed to cross, the train they were in remained standing for over 2:30 hours.The platform No. 1 of the Amritsar railway station is booked for a larger part of the day. The passengers are either forced to use the overbridge or take risks to cross the tracks on foot. No other train is allowed to enter the platform No. 1 as Shatabdi Express and Swaran Shatabdi Express remain parked for nearly 11 hours. Members of the Sis Ganj Sahib Sewak Jatha, a Delhi-based Sikh religious organisation, had taken up the matter by writing a communiqué to then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee some time back.Manmohan Singh, a passenger, said he had been observing for over two years that the Shatabdi trains were invariably parked on the platform No. 1, causing inconvenience to the passengers, especially the infirm and aged. He said these trains could easily be taken to a yard like other trains for maintenance and washing.Shatabdi Express arrives from Delhi at 10.25 pm and remains parked on the platform until it leaves for the same destination at 5 am. Similarly, Swaran Shatabdi Express remains parked on the platform No. 1 after it arrives from Delhi at 1:25 pm till 4:55 pm when it again departs for Delhi. All major amenities, including waiting halls, toilets for handicapped, bathrooms, ticket windows, enquiry, dispensary and platform ticket window facilities and offices of the Railways are located on the platform No. 1.Railways officials maintained that the trains were parked on the platform No. 1 for security reasons and had costly furniture. Beside, offices of Railways employees were situated on the same platform that made surveillance quick and reliable, added the officials.

While the Madurai - Kollam - Madurai passenger has bee extended up to Punalur from Thursday (August 1), the Madurai - Dindigul - Madurai passenger will be extended to Palani from August 2.An official statement from the Southern Railway said that train number 56700/56701 Madurai - Kollam -Madurai passenger will be extended to Punalur. Train number 56700 Madurai - Kollam passenger leaving Madurai on Wednesday 11.15pm and arriving Kollam on August 1 by 9.05am will be extended to Punalur as Madurai - Punalur passenger and the train will reach the station by 11.10am.Meanwhile train number 56701 Kollam - Madurai passenger will start from Punalur as Punalur - Madurai passenger at 3.50pm on August 1 and arrive Kollam at 5.40pm. It will leave Kollam at 6.10pm and reach Madurai at 6.20am the next day. The train will stop at all stations between Kollam and Punalur viz. Kilikollur, Chandanattop Halt, Kundra, Kundra East Halt, Ezhukone, Kottarakara, Kuri Halt and Auvaneeswaram.In the same way, train number 56710/56709 Madurai - Dindigul - Madurai train is extended to Palani. The inaugural and regular service of train number 56710 Madurai - Palani Passenger and train number 56709 Palani - Madurai passenger will commence from August 2. Train number 56710 Madurai - Palani passenger will leave Madurai at 7.35am and arrive Dindigul at 8.55am. It will leave Dindigul at 9am to reach Palani at 10.45am. Train number 56709 Palani - Madurai passenger will leave Palani at 5.05pm and arrive Dindigul at 6.10pm; it will leave Dindigul at 6.15pm and reach Madurai at 8.15pm. The trains will stop at Kudal Nagar, Samayanallur, Sholavandan, Vadipatti, Kodaikkanal Road, Ambaturai, Dindigul, Akkaraippatti, Oddanchatram and Chatrapatti.

State minister for electricity and prohibition and excise, Natham R Viswanathan, Dindigul MP, N S V Chitthan and other dignitaries are expected to flag off the extended service of train number 56710 Madurai - Dindigul Passenger to Palani at Dindigul railway station at 9am on August 2, the railway statement observed.

HANSI: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government would give 50 per cent of Rs 2,515 crore for the implementation of three railway line projects.During a rail road rally here, Hooda announced to provide the amount for the three railway line projects -- 104 km long Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-FerozpurJhirka-Alwar, Hisar-Agroha-Fatehabad-Sirsa (93 kms) and Yamunanagar-Sadhora-Naraingarh-Chandigarh (91 kms).Hooda was responding to the suggestion made by Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, at the same venue, that Railway Ministry would take up the three important rail lines on priority basis provided the state government bears half of the expenditure.The rally was organised for the foundation stone laying ceremony of Hansi-Meham-Rohtak rail line and four laning of Hisar-Hansi-Meham-Rohtak section of National Highway 10.The Railway Minister appreciated the state government's initiative of contributing 50 per cent share in the railway projects of the state.Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandes, who also addressed the rally, announced to sanction Railway over Bridge at Dabwali which would cost more than Rs 37 crore.Meanwhile, Hooda announced to give Rs 10 crore each to all seven assembly segments of Hisar for development works. He also announced the construction of a stadium at Hansi.

Lashing out at opposition INLD, Hooda claimed that not a single inch of rail line was laid in the INLD-BJP regime.

Hooda said INLD-BJP government had spent only Rs 602.72 crore in Hisar whereas the present Congress government has already spent Rs 3165.62 crore in the area.

He also took a dig at the BJP saying that one its leader says that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should lead BJP while the others have a different opinion.

Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister for Railways, laid the foundation stones of the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi new rail line and shifting of Rohtak-Makrauli section of Rohtak-Gohana-Panipat rail line from Hansi and Rohtak respectively today.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana, presided over both the functions in the presence of Oscar Fernandes, Minister of Road Transportation and National Highways, Deepender Singh Hooda, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Kuldeep Singh Bishnoi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Ranbir Singh Prajapati, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shadi Lal Batra, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Bharat Bhushan Batra, MLA, Rohtak, Vinod Bhayana, MLA, Hansi, Savitri Jindal, MLA, Hissar,  Anand Singh Dangi, MLA, Meham, Shakuntala Khatak, MLA, Kalanaur, Ram Kishan Fouji, MLA, Bawani Khera and Ram Niwas Ghorela, MLA, Barwala on the occasion.

Northern Railway will achieve another milestone in bringing direct and shorter rail connectivity between the developing industrial townships of Rohtak and Hissar by constructing a new rail line from Rohtak to Hansi via Mehem. This new rail line was been sanctioned in 2012-13 at an estimated cost of Rs 406.87 crores on cost-sharing basis with the state of Haryana.

Rohtak and Hissar are connected by railways via two routes, that is Bhiwani and Jakhal, the distance of which is 142.56 km and 210.60 km respectively. Once the new broad gauge link between Rohtak-Hissar via Hansi is completed, the distance will be reduced to 93.919 km, thus reducing cost of travel with corresponding reduction in travel time.

The new rail line from Rohtak to Hissar via Hansi will have 4 stations — Bahu Akbarpur, Kharkhara, Bahalbah and Sorkhi. Covering the three districts of Rohtak, Bhiwani and Hissar, the rail line will benefit residents of surrounding villages. There will be seven major bridges and 96 minor bridges including four road-under-bridges and 37 level-crossings in this rail project. As this region is in proximity to the National Capital Region and is marked by dense population, the commissioning of the new rail line will be very beneficial.

Presently the Rohtak-Gohana-Panipat railway line runs via Makrauli. Due to several operational conveniences it has been proposed to shift Rohtak-Makrauli line. Its immediate benefit is that its alternative route, the Rohtak-Samargopalpur line will provide a third line between the two stations along the main line. Another important factor is that once this line gets operational no engine reversal will be required on the Delhi-Panipat and Rewari-Panipat routes and a blind curve of 2 km and eight existing level crossing gates will be eliminated.

Along with these benefits, another platform will be provided at Rohtak and two road–over–bridges already sanctioned will not be required to be built. The existing line will be dismantled and a road will be constructed in its place. The relocated line will run parallel to Rohtak-Jind line and the proposed North bypass of Rohtak before reconnecting at kilometer 8.89 with Rohtak-Panipat line. To facilitate running of traffic from Jind-Panipat via Samargopalpur, thus avoiding Rohtak, one Y-junction is proposed connecting Samargopalpur station and alternate route.

The new Rohtak-Mehem–Hansi rail line and shifting of Rohtak-Makrauli Line of Rohtak-Gohana-Panipat Section will upgrade Northern Railway’s capacity to increase its fleet of trains on these sections.

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court held on Tuesday that season ticket holders were not entitled to travel on reserved coaches of trains.
