        In viewof agitation at Dharmavaram Station, South Central Railway will divert / Partially Cancel / Cancel the following trains as detailed below:

I.Trains Diverted:

1)Train No. 11013 Mumbai LTT-Coimbatore Express, departed Mumbai LTT o­n 31stJuly, 2013 is diverted to run via Guntakal, Bellary, Chikajajur and Bangalore.

II.Trains Partially Cancelled:

1)Train No. 57475 Tirupati-Guntakal Passenger which departed Tirupati at 09 20 hrs o­n today i.e., o­n 1st August, 2013 is partially cancelled between Kadiri and Guntakal and will run back as Train No. 57476 from Kadiri to Tirupati.

2)Train No. 57476 Guntakal-Tirupati Passenger which departed Guntakal at 07 00 hrs today i.e., o­n 1st August, 2013 is partially cancelled between Dharmavaram and Tiruapti and will run back as Train No. 57475 from Dharmavaram to Guntakal.

3)Train No. 564504 Vijayawada-Yesvantapur passenger which departed Vijayawada o­n 31stJuly, 2013 is partially cancelled between Anantapur and Yesvantapur and will run back as Train No. 56503 from Anantapur to Vijayawada.

4.Train No. 56503 Yesvantapur-Vijayawada passenger which departed Yesvantapur at 08 00 hrs today i.e., 1st August, 2013 is short terminated at a convenient station o­n South Western Railway.

III.Trains Cancelled:



1)Train No. 57437 Guntakal-Hindupur passenger is cancelled o­n 1st August, 2013.

2)Train No. 57438 Hindupur-Guntakal is cancelled o­n 2nd August, 2013.

3)Train No. 57478 Guntakal-Tirupati passenger is cancelled o­n 1st August, 2013.

          4)  Train No. 57477 Tirupati-Guntakal Passenger is cancelled o­n 1st August, 2013.

Diphu (Assam)/Darjeeling: Two persons were killed in police firing in escalating violence in the agitation for a separate Karbi Anglong state in Assam on the lines of Telangana, which also spurred GJM on Thursday to call for an indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday for Gorkhaland.

Protesters turned violent and vandalised various public buildings and set satellite dishes of the All India Radio on fire in Assam's Karbi Anglong district amidst demand for a separate state.

Gautam Timung, was killed in police firing when agitators tried to remove a portion of railway lines after they were repaired following the removal of another portion at a place between Doldoli and Dhansiri on the Diphu-Dimapur line, official sources said.

Earlier, A 22-year-old college student, Rahul Signa, who was injured in police firing, when he was locking up his father's shop after violence broke out on Wednesday, died of his injuries late last night, the sources said.

The police also fired in the air near the All India Radio building after agitators set ablaze satellite dishes halting broadcast and relay and torched a waiting room constructed of wood, the sources said. Buildings of the Public Works Department, Forest and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan offices, constructed of wood, were also set ablaze by agitators, the sources said. The office of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, Assam's apex literary body, was also damaged by them, they said.

The army, called in on Wednesday, was on stand by to assist the district administration with police and paramilitary forces on patrol, the sources said. The agitators belonged to the Karbi Students Association, Karbi Riso Adorba and NSUI and several other organisations.

The violence started on Wednesday as protesters demand for a separate state carved out of two Assam districts on the lines of Telangana.

The agitators targeted public buildings, residences of politicians, the Congress office, Autonomous District Council building, Chief Executive Member's residence while a bus counter and vehicles were torched.

To control the violence, the police yesterday opened fire at many places injuring 20 people. Meanwhile, the Hills State Democratic Party has called a 100-hour bandh in the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao from August 5 to reinforce the demand for a separate Karbi Anglong state. 

Indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday

Reversing its decision within hours after the arrival of central forces in the hills, the GJM said it took a 'hard decision' for an indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday to demand a Gorkhaland state on the lines of Telangana.

Accusing the West Bengal government of trying to 'crush a democratic movement', GJM leader Harka Bahadur Chhetri said, "We had to take a hard stand." "There will be indefinite bandh in the hills from August 3. There will be no relaxation," he added.

Earlier in the day, GJM general secretary and spokesman Roshan Giri had said that in view of Eid, the GJM would give some relaxation and the shut down would be for 96-hours.

West Bengal miniser Gautam Deb said that steps would be taken to deal with any violence, while stating that the Centre would be equally accountable.

बाजपुर। लालकुंआ से हावड़ा चलने वाली साप्ताहिक ट्रेन को रामनगर से संचालित करने सहित तीन सूत्रीय मांगों को लेकर सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं ने प्रदर्शन कर स्टेशन मास्टर को रेल मंडल प्रबंधक के नाम ज्ञापन सौंपा।
मंगलवार को शाम चार बजे विभिन्न संगठनों के दर्जनों लोग एकत्र होकर जुलूस की शक्ल समाज सेवी केशव पासी के नेतृत्व में रेलवे स्टेशन पर पहुंचे। उन्होंने प्रदर्शन कर लालकुंआ से हावड़ा चलने वाली ट्रेन को रामनगर तक चलाने, लालकुंआ से गूलरभोज के मध्य टांडा रेंज क्रासिंग बुड़ाखत्ता गांव मेें हाल्ट स्थापित करने, काशीपुर से लालकुंआ के मध्य एक जोड़ी शटल सेवा चलाने सहित तीन सूत्रीय मांगों को लेकर प्रदर्शन कर स्टेशन मास्टर संजय कुमार को मंडल प्रबंधक के नाम ज्ञापन सौंपा। ज्ञापन की प्रति रेलवे महाप्रबंधक, रेल मंत्री, सांसद सहित कई मंत्रियों और रेलवे के उच्चाधिकारियों को भेजी गई है। मौके पर सुशील सिंघला, जगदीश पांडे, अशोक गोयल, सुभाष, पंकज शर्मा, धर्मानंद पांडे, विजय कुमार, शिव कुमार, विनोद टंडन, रणवीर सिंह संधू आदि थे।

चंपारण के रास्ते दिल्ली जाने वाली इस रेलखंड की सबसे अच्छी ट्रेन का विस्तार बरौनी तक करने का विरोध चंपारण में होने लगा है। इस बाबत भाकपा नेत्री शालिनी मिश्र ने दूरभाष पर बताया कि इस गाड़ी का विस्तार मुजफ्फरपुर से बरौनी करना चंपारण की जनता का अपमान है। 1बरौनी से इस गाड़ी को करने के बाद चंपारण के लोगों को सफर के लिए टिकट प्राप्त करना और मुश्किल हो जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि इस बाबत वे रेल मंत्री से मिलकर क्षेत्र के लोगों की समस्याएं रखेंगी। कहा कि किसी भी हाल में इस ट्रेन को मुजफ्फरपुर से बरौनी नहीं जाने दी जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि रेल मंत्रलय अगर इस दिशा में लोगों के हितों को ध्यान में रखकर ट्रेन के विस्तार के निर्णय पर कायम रहा तो पार्टी चरणबद्ध आंदोलन को बाध्य होगी। श्रीमती मिश्र ने कहा कि बापू की कर्मभूमि से देश को जोड़ने के लिए बनी योजना धीरे-धीरे समाप्त कर यहां के लोगों को सुविधा से महरूम किया जा रहा है। 1पोरबंदर एक्सप्रेस, मडुआडीह एक्सप्रेस व गरीब रथ जैसी गाड़ी मोतिहारी से पूर्व में खुलती थी। लोगों को कुछ दिनों तक यात्र सहज लगने लगी थी। लेकिन विभाग ने इन ट्रेनों को मुजफ्फरपुर तक विस्तार कर दिया था। अब सप्तक्रांति को मुजफ्फरपुर से विस्तार कर बरौनी से परिचालन करने का निर्णय गलत है। श्रीमती मिश्र ने कहा कि इसका हर स्तर पर यहां के लोग विरोध करने को तैयार हैं

A suburban corridor and automatic signalling have been mooted by the Railways to introduce more trains and Mainline Electric Multiple Units (MEMU) to end hardship faced by commuters, especially short-distance commuters.Participating at a meet-the-press of the Press Club here on Wednesday, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajesh Agrawal said the Railways had submitted a proposal to the government on automatic signalling, which could be justified only for such corridors.Thiruvananthapuram is an ideal location for setting up a suburban corridor and the first one could be Thiruvananthapuram–Kayamkulam. Taking into account the special situation in the State and the overdependence on trains, the DRM said special passenger trains and air-conditioned MEMU services would have to be operated for short-distance commuters.In reply to a question on the fate of the coaching depot at Nemom, the DRM said the proposal was still under consideration. “The division will move ahead with the proposal,” he added.On the crackdown on season ticket travellers in reserved coaches of long-distance mail and express trains, Mr. Agrawal said complaints from reserved travellers had compelled Railways to take strict action. He said travellers should reserve tickets or travel in de-reserved coaches.

To a query on the shortage of travelling ticket examiners and stationmasters, Mr. Agrawal said accountability-levels had increased and hence the stationmasters were required to do additional jobs and take up additional responsibilities. “There will be opposition and some levels of discomfort, but everything has been done objectively. But if need be, additional staff will be provided,” he added.

Detailing on the upgrade of facilities at the Kochuveli and Kazhakuttam railway stations, the DRM said Kochuveli had been upgraded from level D to B category.

A development proposal of Rs. 16 crore has been submitted to the Railway Board

Mangalore Central Railway Station may get an additional high-level platform and a third foot overbridge if the proposals of the Southern Railways to add these facilities at a cost of Rs. 16 crore in 2014-15 are approved by the Railway Board.

The facilities proposed also include laying of two new lines and a pit line which would enable it to handle more trains.

The information was disclosed by Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad Division Mohan A. Menon at a tri-monthly meeting chaired by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to review the progress of railway projects in Dakshina Kannada.

Mr. Menon said the highest amount of Rs. 3.75 crore was being sought for the construction of a new foot overbridge and extension of the second foot overbridge, followed by Rs. 2.70 crore for a 540m pit line (a track with a pit under it all along to clean coaches); Rs. 2.55 crore for a new 540m platform; Rs. 1.71 crore for platform shelter and vacuum de-watering; Rs. 1.35 crore for a concrete apron for tracks to keep them clean; Rs. 1.29 crore for office accommodation and store; Rs. 73 lakh for two new lines; Rs. 50 lakhs for signalling arrangements; Rs. 50 lakh for improvement to circulating areas and Rs. 27 lakh for a compound wall, among others.

He noted that proposals worth Rs. 17 crore sent to the Railway Board were not cleared for the year 2013-14 and fresh proposals are being sent with modifications for the year 2014-15.

Mr. Menon expressed the inability of Railways to extend the Mumbai CST-Mangalore Junction Express train up to Mangalore Central station owing to the crowding of trains during afternoons.

The station would be able to handle more trains when the proposed facilities are added, he said. Extension of the proposed push-pull Bhatkal-Mangalore Junction train was also made at the meeting.

Mr. Menon said Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (KITCO) has been appointed as consultants for the development of world class stations in Kerala and Mangalore. KITCO had come out with perception maps and it would hold meetings with stake holders.

The railway manager offered to inspect the Mangalore Station with regard to complaints of failure to maintain cleanliness. He also promised to look into the failure of authorities to provide sign boards and application forms in Kannada under the Tribhasha scheme of the railways to include local language.

He said the problems regarding wrong location of the pre-paid autorickshaw kiosk at Mangalore Junction railway station could have been avoided had the Railways been taken into confidence in advance. With the railways insisting on shifting the kiosk to prevent movement of the public being hit, the introduction of pre-paid autorickshaw service has been delayed.

Railway Protection Force of Northern Railway caught Manoj (Monu) R/O Gobindpuri, New Delhi for indulging into the touting activities for cornering reserved accommodation in the name of Cancer patients from Railway Reservation Centre, Okhala.  After intensive enquiries , it was revealed that two persons named Abhishek & Govind, residents of Bhagalpur, Bihar were involved in the touting activities by producing fake documents in name of cancer patients.  During investigation by RPF/Hazrat Nizamuddin, Abhishek was arrested from Okhala Reservation Centre o­n 23.7.13.  Later,on the basis of his statement, 275 forged certificates and 8 rubber stamps in the name of different doctors of A.I.I.M.S. were seized from him.  His other fellow tout Gobind was later arrested with the help of local police/Bhagalpur.

All the  accused have been sent in legal custody by Hon’ble court/Tis Hazari.

In gross violation of the norms laid down by the Railways and the Social Forestry Department, seven trees were felled without permission at the South railway station premises here. Ernakulam area manager P L Ashok Kumar said that the trees were felled by a railway staff without seeking permission from higher authorities.

“The incident took place nearly a week ago. However, it was brought to my attention only the other day. Seven trees,  including three mango trees and four ‘Kannikonna' (Laburnum) trees were axed in front of the railway quarters located close to the railway station. Strict action will be taken against the individual who committed the offense,” Ashok Kumar said.

The railway employee who lives at the quarters had cut the trees stating that it was causing discomfort to him and his family, the railway officials said.

"Also, he claimed that trees were blocking the sunlight to his house. But, since he had not sought the permission from us, we have registered it as an offense," the official said.

As per the Railway norms, no tree can be cut at the railway station premises unless it causes danger to the railway installments,  including railway tracks, railway buildings, signals etc. “Even then, we are supposed to carry out a lot of formalities,  such as seeking permission from the Forest Department. We have informed the Railway Police Force to study the issue and prepare reports,” the officials added.

Meanwhile, the officials clarified that no case would be filed against the individual because the wood from the trees has not been taken out of the Railway premises.

“Otherwise, we could have treated it as a case of theft. However, it is clear that the individual had no intention of stealing the wood for any other use. Department action,  including punishment and fine will be levied upon him instead,” Ashok Kumar added.

Recently, at a railway station in Palakkad, the Forest Department had given permission to cut down a few branches of the trees as these was posing hazards to the railway passengers.

Meanwhile, as per the reports with the Social Forestry wing of the Forest Department, more than 1,400 trees were felled in Ernakulam alone in a single year. For the Kochi Metro Rail project, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was given permission to cut down as many as 48 trees at the eastern entry of the Ernakulam Junction station.
