Two bogies of a goods train carrying oil to Mumbai from Gujarat Refinery derailed at Vadodara railway station on Sunday, briefly affecting the movement of trains on the Mumbai-Delhi route.

Manoj Joshi, who has taken over as the new Manager of the Guntakal Railway Division, arrived at Tirupati station on Sunday. Mr. Joshi inspected the second escalator under installation and also enquired about the progress of the new entrance developed on the southern side of the station. Meanwhile, the Renigunta branch of South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) submitted a memorandum listing their problems to him. SCRMU Assistant Divisional Secretary G.Jayanth Kumar, chairman Md. Baker and others urged him to redress their grievances.

नई दिल्ली : यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए उत्तर रेलवे ने दिल्ली के सराय रोहिल्ला से फिरोजपुर कैंट के बीच नई इंटरसिटी ट्रेन चलाने की घोषणा की। साथ ही कई रूट पर विशेष ट्रेन भी चलेगी।
दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला-फिरोजपुर कैंट इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस (14625/14626) नौ अगस्त से शुरू हो गई है। रोजाना चलने वाली यह ट्रेन सराय रोहिल्ला से सुबह पौने सात बजे रवाना होकर उसी दिन दोपहर पौने तीन बजे फिरोजपुर कैंट पहुंचेगी। जबकि फिरोजपुर कैंट से सुबह साढ़े चार बजे चलकर उसी दिन सुबह 11.40 बजे दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला पहुंचेगी।
रास्ते में इसका ठहराव शकूरबस्ती, बहादुरगढ़, रोहतक, जिंद, नरवाना, टोहाना, जखल, मानसा, मौड़, बठिंडा, कोटकपुरा व फरीदकोट में है। इस ट्रेन में सेकंड व थर्ड एसी का एक-एक, स्लीपर के पांच और जनरल के छह कोच लगाए गए हैं।
दिल्ली-बठिंडा इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन (14732/14731) अब फाजिलका तक चलेगी। रोजाना चलने वाली यह ट्रेन सराय रोहिल्ला से दोपहर बाद सवा दो बजे रवाना होकर देर रात 1.05 बजे फाजिलका पहुंचेगी।
वापसी में फाजिलका से सुबह दो बजे रवाना चलकर दोपहर पौने एक बजे सराय रोहिल्ला पहुंचेगी।
नई दिल्ली-लखनऊ के लिए विशेष ट्रेन
नई दिल्ली से लखनऊ के बीच 14 अगस्त को 04208 नंबर की विशेष ट्रेन चलाई जाएगी। जिसमें फ‌र्स्ट एसी के एक, सेकंड एसी के चार तथा थर्ड एसी के आठ कोच होंगे। रास्ते में यह गाजियाबाद,मुरादाबाद, बरेली, शाहजहांपुर व हरदोई में रुकेगी।
22 सितंबर तक साप्ताहिक ट्रेन
चंडीगढ़ व डिब्रूगढ़ के बीच 05903/05904 नंबर की विशेष साप्ताहिक ट्रेन चलाई जा रही है। नौ तारीख से शुरू हुई यह ट्रेन 22 सितंबर तक चलेगी। डिब्रूगढ़ से शुक्रवार को सुबह 8.40 बजे तथा चंडीगढ़ से बुधवार को सुबह सवा छह बजे ट्रेन रवाना होगी।
सहारनपुर व अंबाला के बीच ईएमयू ट्रेन
सहारनपुर व अंबाला कैंट के बीच दस अगस्त से नौ सितंबर तक 04511/04512 नंबर की विशेष ईएमयू ट्रेन भी चलाई गई है। जो सहारनपुर से सुबह पौने पांच बजे चलकर सुबह साढ़े छह बजे अंबाला कैंट पहुंचेगी। वापसी में अंबाला से रात 8.35 बजे रवाना होकर 10.35 बजे सहारनपुर पहुंचेगी। वहीं दिल्ली-शामली (74023/74022) पैसेंजर ट्रेन 13 अगस्त तक हरिद्वार तक चलेगी।

Come August 19, overloaded vehicles will no longer pass through the railway underbridge near Tata Pigments on Jugsalai-Station Road.
Railway authorities have decided to construct two height gauges on both sides of the bridge to restrict the movement of heavy vehicles.
The move is aimed at protecting the railway underbridge from damage.
The railway authorities revealed that the work on the gauges would begin from Monday. “The gauges will have concrete foundations and steel structure. They will take 4-5 days to be raised and will be launched on August 19,” said S.L. Meena, of the railway’s engineering division, who is supervising the project.
He added that once the gauges were in place, vehicles more than 12ft in height would not be able to pass through.
“Our priority is to protect the underbridge, which is getting damaged. It is a national property and its safety is our primary concern,” he said, adding that the bridge was old but strong.
Station manager of Tatanagar Awtar Singh said that major mishaps could take place if the bridge suffered more wear and tear. “Several important trains on the Howrah-Mumbai route travelling via Tatanagar pass through that bridge. We cannot compromise on its safety,” he said.
The authorities of Tatanagar have already informed the district administration about the project.
“We will try to ensure that movement of vehicles on the arterial stretch is not affected during the construction work of the height gauges. We have intimated about the same to the local administration,” said a senior railway official of Chakradharpur division.
This is not the first time railway authorities are mulling installation of height gauges to restrict movement of heavy vehicles. However, last time, the gauges had collapsed.

Metro Railway has launched a plan to install 29 escalators at all 23 stations on the route except Noapara in the next two years at a cost of around Rs 22 crore.
The Metro stations have altogether 64 escalators, many of which often do not function and leave passengers huffing and panting while climbing up long flights of stairs.
“The plan is to have an escalator from all surface entrances to a station to the mezzanine level and from there to the platform,” said a Metro official.
While two new escalators at Jatin Das Park station have been operational, one each at Maidan, Rabindra Sarobar and Sovabazar-Sutanuti are expected to be ready by Puja.
“There was a longstanding demand for more escalators at Jatin Das Park station because of its proximity to Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital,” said Protyush Ghosh, the deputy general manager, Metro Railway.
Four more escalators — one each at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Esplanade, Maidan and Rabindra Sarobar stations — will be ready by April 2014.
Metro officials have decided to install energy-efficient escalators — ones that start moving only when someone steps on them.
Commuters, however, wonder how sincere the authorities would be in maintaining the new escalators, given the sorry state of the existing ones.
Amit Paul, 62, who had a heart attack in 2005 and suffers from a knee problem, stopped using Metro a year ago because of the irregular escalator service and the long flights of stairs he is forced to climb.
“I would often travel by Metro from Shyambazar, but given the state of the escalators, have stopped doing so,” said the Maniktala resident.
Metro officials, however, have promised to ensure smoother functioning of the escalators. “We have undertaken this task (increasing the number of escalators) keeping commuters’ convenience in mind and shall ensure that the old ones are maintained properly,” said Ghosh.

नई दिल्ली-अहमदाबाद राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में रेलवे ने अपनी चूक को सुधार लिया है। दैनिक भास्कर में खबर प्रकाशित होने के 10 दिन बाद आईआरसीटीसी ने राजधानी के ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में गुड़गांव स्टेशन को शामिल कर लिया है। इसके साथ ही अब यात्री गुड़गांव से ऑनलाइन आरक्षण की सुविधा ले सकेंगे। 12958/57 नई दिल्ली-अहमदाबाद स्वर्ण जयंती राजधानी एक्सप्रेस का पिछले साल दिसंबर में गुड़गांव स्टेशन पर स्टॉपेज शुरू करने के बावजूद रेलवे ने अब तक ऑनलाइन टाइमटेबल में गुड़गांव को शामिल ही नहीं किया था।

दैनिक भास्कर ने एक अगस्त के अंक में छह महीने से चल रही रेलवे की इस चूक को उजागर करते हुए यात्रियों की परेशानी को बयां किया था। बताया जा रहा है कि राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में इतनी बड़ी भूल को लेकर रेलवे के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों तक सूचना जाने पर उन्होंने एक्शन लेते हुए 10 दिन बाद टाइमटेबल में संशोधन करा दिया है। इसे रेलवे की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट पर टाइमटेबल को देखा जा सकता है। इसमें राजधानी का गुड़गांव स्टेशन पर रात 08.44 बजे से दो मिनट का स्टॉपेज दिखाया जा रहा है। इस संशोधन के बाद राजधानी में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों को काफी फायदा मिलेगा। जिन्हें अब तक नई दिल्ली स्टेशन से ऑनलाइन बुकिंग करानी पड़ रही थी। अब गुड़गांव स्टेशन से भी यात्रियों के लिए ऑनलाइन बुकिंग के दरवाजे में खुल जाएंगे। इस बारे में आईआरसीटीसी के प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि रेल मंत्रालय की तरफ से डाटा मिलते ही इसे वेबसाइट पर अपडेट कर दिया गया है।

Kathgodam Express hit a Tanakpur depot bus at the bypass railway crossing in the wee hours today. However, no one was injured in the accident.The train was moving towards Dehradun when it hit the bus that was on its way to Tanakpur from the ISBT, Dehradun, at 4.30 am. There were 20 persons in the bus, including the driver and the conductor, at the time of the accident.According to information, Kathgodam Express had to make a halt 200 m before the railway crossing in the morning as its driver did not get green signal from the flag man at the railway crossing gates.When the driver enquired about it, he found that the flag man was sleeping and he forgot to flash the green signal and close the gates.Later, he flashed the green signal and the train started moving. However, the train driver spotted that the railway crossing gate has not been closed and a bus was moving towards the crossing.On the other hand, the flag man claimed that he did not get any information about the train’s arrival from the control room.In charge, bypass police post, Arvind Kumar said, “After spotting the bus, the train driver applied the emergency brakes, but could not stop the train from hitting the rear portion of the bus.”Pradeep Chauhan, in charge, government railway police station, Dehradun, said, “Luckily, all passengers escaped unhurt.”

He said Railway Protection Force officials also reached the spot, who are now investigating the case.

Senior Section Engineer (Railways) SP Singh said, “The report of the preliminary investigation has been sent to the railway division and action will be taken against whosoever found guilty.”

Chennai: A coach of a suburban Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train derailed near Chennai Central railway station this evening, but there were no casualties, railway sources said.The incident occurred at around 6.30 PM as the Electric Multiple Unit from Gumidipoondi was arriving at a platform. One of the wheels got dislodged from a coach near Basin Bridge and it derailed, they said.Train services were disrupted for over an hour on the route due to the incident, the sources said.Railway officials rushed to the spot to repair it, they said, adding that services would soon be restored.
