MUMBAI : Passengers could be inconvenienced as Central Railway will operate a megablock on its suburban sections for carrying out maintenance work on Sunday.

The first block will be carried out on the Down fast line between Thane and Kalyan stations from 10 am to 3.30 pm on Sunday. The Dn fast line services leaving Mumbai CST from 9.04 am to 2.51 pm will be diverted on Dn slow line between Thane and Kalyan stations halting at all stations between Thane and Kalyan stations. All these Dn fast locals will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup & Mulund stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule.

All Up fast line services leaving Thane from 10.50 am to 3.43 pm will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their scheduled halts and arrive their destination15 minutes behind schedule.

All Dn slow suburban services leaving CST between 10 am and 4 pm and the Up slow suburban services arriving CST between 11 am and 5 pm will arrive their destination ten minutes behind schedule, officials stated.

Another megablock will be carried out on the Up and Down lines between Kalyan and Ambernath stations from 2 pm to 3.30 pm

The Dn line services leaving Kalyan from 1.32 pm to 3.17 pm and Up line services leaving Badlapur from 1.49 pm to 3.22 pm will remain suspended. However, shuttle services will run between Badlapur and Karjat during the block period, officials added.

Secunderabad:  With the commissioning of the an escalators on Platform No.4 and 5,  the seventh in the station and of two lifts, one each on Platform No.1 and 10 in the second week of August, Secunderabad has emerged as the first railway station in the country to be equipped with escalators on all its 10 platforms and lifts on the main platforms at the station’s both entrances.

The South Central Railway has spent Rs 6.60 crore on the seven escalators, civil engineering works, electrical power supply and other arrangements.

The two lifts have cost the SCR about Rs 98 lakh. Each lift has the capacity to carry 20 persons at a time. Each escalator can carry 180 persons per minute. It is estimated that around 43,000 passengers use escalators on any given day.

Escalators and lifts not only facilitate easy and quick movement of passengers but have also proven to be a boon to the elderly, sick and physically challenged.

MUMBAI: A woman constable was suspended after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) control room failed to respond to a call from a woman commuter who wanted to alert the cops about a man who was flashing on a running train on Western Railway on Friday morning. The Government Railway Police finally arrested the accused Vinaykumar Singh (30), who is employed with WR as peon. The incident took place around 8am in a Churchgate-bound fast train. Inspector general of police , Western Railway, Mahim Swami said, "I decided to suspend the constable concerned after a report in TOI alleged that the complainant's call to the RPF control room on the day of the incident failed to elicit any response." Based on preliminary inquiry , WR has identified head constable Rekha Namdeo for alleged dereliction of duty. She was posted in the control room when the incident occurred. Swami said, "The inquiry will be wrapped up in a couple of days. We have also requested the complainant to record her statement. If found guilty, the constable will be given exemplary punishment so that there is no repeat of such lapse in future."

It is yet to be established whether the constable did not pick up the call at all or she failed to pass on the information after receiving the complaint . Swami said, "The inquiry is being conducted to find out the reasons."

Railway activist Samir Zaveri said, "The RPF should dismiss the constable if she is found guilty. Stern action will ensure that others do not take their job lightly. Top officials should also regularly call up the control room to check the preparedness of the system."

Security for woman commuters has been found lacking over the past few months on the suburban railway. On July 27, a nurse travelling alone was molested by a man in the compartment. The onduty GRP constable was suspended after he overslept and missed the train at Churchgate stion.

On August 13, an attempt was made by stunt-boys—all minors—to rob a journalist in a running train at 4pm.

Mira Road resident Shreya P said, "Railway authorities should consider installing CCTV cameras in ladies compartments like in the Delhi Metro and BEST buses."

The incident

The complainant, employed with a private firm in Lower Parel, had boarded the first class compartment of a Churchgatebound local at 7.58am at Mira Road. She noticed that the accused, travelling in the adjacent first class general compartment, was flashing while travelling on the train's footboard. The complainant, who was also travelling on the footboard of the ladies first class, called the RPF control room. As there was no response, the complainant called up the GRP helpline. GRP personnel then nabbed the flasher at Dadar and took him to Mumbai Central. He was later transferred to the Borivli GRP, which has registered a case under Section 509 of IPC.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today exuded confidence that the ambitious Lucknow Metro Rail project, to ease traffic and transportation problem of the state capital, would start in time.On the occasion of the release of 'Development Agenda of UP 2013-2014', the chief minister said, "After the Lucknow project, which is a priority of the state government, projects for other cities would be taken up."Yadav, who was presented the model of the proposed project, also said the funds for the extension of metro in Ghaziabad has been arranged.Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Planning department Sadakant said details of the project were being worked out diligently so that the first phase of the Rs 6,757 crore project could be started by the targeted date of December, 2013.All efforts are being made to obtain necessary approvals and financial sanction from the Centre, he said, adding that operations are expected to commence in December, 2016.A modified Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been approved by the high-powered committee headed by the Chief Secretary, Sadakant said.The constitution of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) is underway with the memorandum and articles of the association having been prepared, he said.To expedite the work, an interim consultant is required to prepare detailed designs for which two specialist agencies -- RITES and DMRC -- have been asked to submit proposals, the Principal Secretary said, adding that the interim consultant would be selected by the end of this month.

DMRC is working on the depot design for north-south corridor of the first phase, he said.

The underground portion of the north-south corridor had been reduced from 7.5 km to approximately 3.5 km from Charbagh to Hazratganj, Sadakant said, adding that 22 stations are proposed in the first phase, out of which 3 stations are underground and 19 elevated.

An estimated 6.45 lakh passengers will use this corridor in the year 2020. The peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of this corridor is estimated to be 20,976 in 2020.

One rake would consist of six coaches with a passenger carrying capacity of 1,574. Initially, the train will run at an interval of 7 to 14 minutes but with the increase in traffic, the interval will be reduced to 2 to 4 minutes.

लखीसराय : जिला पुलिस ने स्वतंत्रता दिवस के दिन दो नक्सलियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। दोनों नक्सली किऊल-झाझा रेलखंड में कुंदर हाल्ट के पास धनबाद-पटना इंटरसिटी ट्रेन पर हुए हमले में शामिल था।
एसपी राजीव मिश्रा ने बताया, बीते 13 जून को नक्सलियों ने दिनदहाड़े ट्रेन पर गोली व बमबारी कर एक पुलिस सब इंस्पेक्टर सहित तीन लोगों की हत्या कर दी थी। साथ ही जवानों से एक एके. 47 व दो इंसास राइफल व भारी मात्रा में कारतूस लूट लिया था। इस चर्चित घटना के दो माह बाद पुलिस ने वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान के जरिए नक्सल प्रभावित क्षेत्र कानीमोहगांव में छापेमारी कर कारेलाल कोड़ा उर्फ प्यारे लाल कोड़ा व राजेश मोदी को गिरफ्तार किया। पूछताछ में दोनों नक्सलियो ने कई घटनाओं में अपनी संलिप्तता स्वीकार करते हुए पुलिस के समक्ष कई महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी दी है। इस अभियान में एएसपी अभियान राजेश कुमार, एसडीपीओ सुबोध कुमार विश्वास, लखीसराय थानाध्यक्ष राजकुमार तिवारी, कजरा थानाध्यक्ष पवन कुमार झा, पीरी बाजार थानाध्यक्ष अभिनव कुमार दुबे व सीआरपीएफ जवान शामिल थे।
एसपी ने बताया, गिरफ्तार नक्सलियों ने तीन अगस्त 2013 को शिवडीह में सड़क निर्माण में लगे एक ठेकेदार सुबोध कुमार के मुंशीव वाहन चालक को अगवा कर उन्हें राजघाट कोल ले जाकर बोलेरो जलाने की घटना में भी शामिल था। एसपी ने कहा, माओवादी संगठन अपने सिद्धांतों को छोड़कर एक संगठित आपराधिक गिरोह चला कर लेवी वसूली कर रहा है। साथ ही ग्रामीणों व युवक-युवतियों को डरा धमका कर अपने संगठन से जोड़ने के लिए गुमराह कर रहा है। एसपी ने कहा, वन क्षेत्र में रहने वाले आदिवासियों की सुरक्षा के साथ-साथ सरकार आपके द्वार कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से विकास का लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए प्रयास कर रही है।

झींझक,अंप्र : दिल्ली-हावड़ा रेल मार्ग पर झींझक स्टेशन की पूर्वी केबिन के पास सिग्नल प्वाइंट खराब होने से डाउन ट्रैक पर रेल यातायात 15 मिनट प्रभावित रहा। झींझक स्टेशन के पूर्वी केबिन के पास आटोमेटिक सिग्नल प्वाइंट संख्या 202 में गुरुवार पूर्वाह्न 11.30 बजे तकनीकी खराबी आ गई। इससे डाउन ट्रैक की सिग्नल प्रणाली ध्वस्त हो गई। सिग्नल इंस्पेक्टर अनिल कुमार हनुमत टीम लेकर मौके पर पहुंचे और 15 मिनट में सिग्नल ठीक कर दिया। इस दौरान डाउन मुरी एक्सप्रेस व डाउन डुप्लीकेट कालका को खराब सिग्नल प्वाइंट के पास रोककर आगे रवाना किया गया। स्टेशन मास्टर अमर सिंह पाल ने बताया 15 मिनट तक डाउन ट्रैक पर रेल यातायात प्रभावित रहा।

इलाहाबाद। इलाहाबाद जंक्शन के रिजर्वेशन काउंटर पर दलालों और कर्मचारियों की मिलीभगत पर लगाम कसने के लिए ई-नज़र रखी जा रही है। काउंटर पर वेब-आधारित सीसीटीवी की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई गई है। इससे डिवीजन में बैठे अफसर कार्यालय से ही रिजर्वेशन काउंटर पर निगाह रख सकते हैं। सूबेदारगंज मुख्यालय में झंडारोहण के बाद उत्तर मध्य रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक आलोक जौहरी ने घोषणा की कि इलाहाबाद की तरह आगरा कैंट, ग्वालियर और कानपुर स्टेशनों पर भी जल्द ही एस्केलेटर की सुविधा उपलब्ध करा दी जाएगी। साथ ही इटावा-मैनपुरी रेल लाइन पर अगले वर्ष में ट्रेनें चालू कर दी जाएंगी। भिंड-इटावा और आगरा-फतेहाबाद-इटावा की नई लाइन के कार्य पूरे कर लिए जाने की संभावना है। बताया कि धौलपुर-सिरमथुरा रेल लाइन के आमान परिवर्तन और गंगापुर सिटी तक इसके विस्तार का कार्य प्रारंभ हो चुका है। महाप्रबंधक ने जोन की उपलब्धियों को गिनाने के साथ 17 रेल कर्मचारियों को उत्कृष्ट कार्य के लिए पुरस्कृत भी किया। समारोह में महाप्रबंधक आरपीएफ, भारत स्काउट एवं गाइड तथा सेंट जॉन एंबूलेंस ब्रिगेड की परेड की सलामी ली। सांस्कृतिक समारोह में टेंडर फीट स्कूल के बच्चों ने देश रंगीला-रंगीला गीत पर सामूहिक नृत्य किया। सांस्कृतिक टीम ने वंदेमातरम, रंग दे बसंती चोला, मन करता है इस धरती पर हम लें सतबार जनम गीत प्रस्तुत किया। आरपीएफ का डॉग शो भी सराहा गया।

Thrissur: The Railways announcement to run an express train service between Punalur and Guruvayur via Kottayam-Chengannur has been welcomed by all. At present, there’s no service between the two destinations.

The two express trains starting from Guruvayur, the Guruvayur-Thiruvanathapuram Intercity Express and the Guruvayur-Chennai Egmore Express, have been running via Alappuzha and these trains are packed during the peak season.

Following the continuous demand of commuters, a new train was announced between Guruvayur and Punalur in the railway budget, much to their delight.

Commuters also urged the railway authorities to sanction stops for the new train at Punkunnam, Puthukkad, Irinjalakuda, Angamali and Aluva stations.

This would be of great service to passengers and pilgrims, said P. Krishnakumar, general secretary of the Thrissur Railway Passengers Association.

But the announcement came as a little disappointment to rail users in Thrissur as the service that has been proposed to run through the route, is likely to disturb the timings of two passenger trains starting from Ernakulam and Thrissur to Guruvayur in the evening.
