Bhubaneswar/Visakhapatnam: The much-awaited security makeover of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Visakhapatnam railway stations under East Coast Railway (ECoR) is likely to be commissioned by December, official sources said. Railways would spend Rs.1.9 crore for implementation of the proposed integrated security system, involving video surveillance, personal and baggage screening, access control and explosive detection.

“High frequency colour cameras with day and night vision will be installed to keep a hawk’s eye on movement of people on platforms, parking lots and surrounding areas,” said a senior railway protection force (RPF) officer.

For proper frisking of vehicles, there will be vehicle surveillance system with boom barriers and advanced vehicle scanners outside the station. “The system will be equipped to capture images of drivers and number plates of vehicles,” he said.

While the existing baggage scanner often gets defunct, the railways would put in place an advanced X-ray baggage scanner at the station. Besides, latest door frame metal detectors and hand-held ones would replace the old devices, sources said.

There will be provision of water cannon, gas cutters, bomb basket, bomb suit among others under the explosive detection and disposal system, sources said. “Those who will handle the integrated security system would be properly trained,” said the RPF officer.

The railways chalked out the proposed fool-proof security measures in the aftermath of the 2008 serial blasts in Mumbai.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd., (IRCTC) is flagging off its first Charter Train from Kerala.

This unique train is departing from Trivandrum on September 13 via Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Shoranur, Erode and Chennai to facilitate tourists to board at these stations.

The charter train is scheduled to operate in two segments Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh (Shimla – Kullu - Manali). These packages also cover tourist’s destinations like Agra – Delhi and Amritsar in the tour.

MUMBAI: The Central Railway (CR) will operate a megablock on its suburban section on Sunday to carry out maintenance work on tracks and overhead equipment.

CR public relations officer A K Singh said, "On Sunday, we plan to operate a megablock on the Down slow line between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11.30am to 3.30 pm." The Down slow line services leaving Matunga from 11.05 am to 3.34pm will be diverted on Down fast line between Matunga and Mulund stations halting at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations and further re-diverted to Down slow line after Mulund.

The UP fast line locals leaving Thane station from 11.21 am to 3.25 pm will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their scheduled halts and arrive their destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

All Down fast line services leaving Mumbai CST from 11.15 am to 2.51 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations in addition to their scheduled halts and will arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule, he said.

All slow locals arriving and leaving CST between 11 am to 4 pm will arrive their destination 10 minutes behind schedule.

Bhopal: A portion of support base of railway tracks between Magardoh and Barbatpur stations in Bhopal’s Betul district on the New Delhi-Chennai route washed away due to incessant rains. According to reports, nearly 30-metre long support base has been washed away on the Up line affecting rail traffic in the section, said railway officials. Trains were running on the Down line only.The damage to the tracks was extensive and authorities could not give timeline for restoration due to which a number of trains were running late.Accompanied by a technical team, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Nagpur division Brajesh Dixit visited the spot on Friday morning and inspected the restoration work.The railway traffic was being cleared at Itarsi station as only one track was available for trains.

भोपाल। बैतूल के पास रेलवे ट्रैक बहने का असर भोपाल आने वाली आधा दर्जन गाडिय़ों पर लगातार दूसरे दिन भी पड़ा है। रेलवे प्रशासन ने शनिवार देर रात तक ट्रैक में सुधार होने की संभावना जताई है।

 

दक्षिण भारत की ओर से आने वाली यशवंतपुर-गोरखपुर व जीटी एक्सप्रेस 3-3 घंटे, दक्षिण व चेन्नई-जयपुर एक्सप्रेस 4-4 घंटे, गोंडवाना एक्सप्रेस साढ़े तीन घंटे की देरी से चल रही हैं। वहीं, एपी एक्सप्रेस आठ घंटे की देरी से यहां पहुंची। अधिकतर गाडिय़ों के देर रात तक यहां पहुंचने की संभावना है।

 

मालवा एक्सप्रेस में आज से अतिरिक्त कोच: उधर, रेलवे प्रशासन ने लंबी वेटिंग को देखते हुए इंदौर-जम्मूतवी मालवा एक्सप्रेस में लगातार तीन दिन तक अतिरिक्त कोच लगाने का निर्णय लिया है। शनिवार व रविवार को दो-दो अतिरिक्त स्लीपर कोच इस गाड़ी में लगाए जाएंगे। वहीं, सोमवार को एक स्लीपर कोच अतिरिक्त रूप से जोड़ा जाएगा।

inaugural “Autumn Express.” Tickets are now on sale for this one-day-only special train, which
departs from and returns to Philadelphia 30th Street Station on Saturday, Nov. 2, and affords
scenic views of historic railroad sites throughout Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The train will travel the Northeast Corridor to Perryville, Md., then make a rare trip up the
historic Port Road Branch (usually off limits to passenger traffic) along the Susquehanna River,
passing through Enola Yard, crossing the Shocks Mill and Rockville bridges before continuing
over the Columbia Secondary and back to Philadelphia via Amtrak’s Keystone Corridor through
scenic Lancaster County.
“This unique excursion is an exciting opportunity for passengers and a new venture for
Amtrak,” explained DJ Stadtler, Amtrak vice president of operations. “In addition to exploring
rare mileage, the ‘Autumn Express’ is a first of its kind charter train which we’ll test as a
potential new revenue source for America’s Railroad.”
The train will consist of a P-42 locomotive, Horizon coach cars(with larger “picture”
windows to take in the view) and café car. Tickets cost $89 for adults and are half-priced for
children ages 2-15. All tickets include a boxed lunch and free souvenir tote bag emblazoned
with the special “Autumn Express” inaugural logo. Other commemorative merchandise will be
available for purchase aboard the train and special announcements will be made highlighting key
landmarks along the route.

कैसे मिलेगी जानकारी

Betul:  Around 30-metre up line railway track in Magardoh-Barbatpur section under Central Railway, Nagpur Division was washed away early Friday morning due to heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh. The incident, a repeat of similar development near Sindi last month, has hit train movement on north-south route.

Due to washing away of track on up-line (Delhi to Nagpur), traffic was diverted on down line since 5.45am on Friday affecting train movement. Daily at least 30 up and down trains move on this route.

Pressure on single track has led to diversion of 4 express trains 12791 Secunderabad-Patna, 12625 Thiruvanathapuram-Delhi Kerala Express, 12269 Chennai-Nizamuddin and 12803 Vishakapattnam-Nizamuddin. The trains went via Badnera-Bhusawal-Itarsi on Friday evening. Freight train traffic too was diverted.

Diversion of trains led to sudden rush at Nagpur station and panic among passengers. Many passengers going to Delhi were accommodated in Chhattisgarh Express. “More trains are likely to be diverted if the track is not repaired by Saturday morning. Looking at the mishap site, it seems unlikely that the track, which is virtually hanging, will be restored by morning,” said officials.

DRM/NGP Mr.Brijesh Dixit along with senior officials rushed to the spot to monitor the operations. PRO PD Patil informed portion of the bridge’s foundation across Machna river caved in due to incessant rains. At least 15 sleepers were washed away in the flooded river while an overhead electric (OHE) pole was uprooted.

Over 170 workers are working to restore the track. Patil said 18 wagons with boulders, sand and other material have been transported to the mishap site. Besides, 80 such wagons have been kept ready. Passengers have been appealed to contact helpline (0712-2564343) for information.

A similar tragedy had struck the Central Railway in July when 500 metres of up and down tracks were washed away at Sindi Railway on Nagpur-Mumbai route. Officials said crisis is not so severe now as one track is open.
