कानपुर। रेलवे प्रशासन ने दुर्गा पूजा के मद्देनजर कोलकाता से आनंद विहार टर्मिनल (नई दिल्ली) एक और स्पेशल ट्रेेन चलाने का फैसला किया है। यह ट्रेन 5 अक्तूबर से 10 नवंबर तक चलेगी। रेलवे अफसरों ने बताया कि 03125 स्पेशल ट्रेन कोलकाता से हर शनिवार को चलेगी। यह ट्रेन कोलकाता से दिन में 13:45 बजे चलकर कानपुर सेंट्रल पर दूसरे दिन सुबह 7:15 बजे आकर उसी दिल्ली 13:50 बजे पहुंचाएगी। इसी तरह 03126 स्पेशल ट्रेन दिल्ली से हर रविवार को शाम 19:50 बजे चलकर कानपुर सेंट्रल पर देररात 1:45 बजे आकर दस मिनट बाद रवाना होगी। यह ट्रेन उसी दिन शाम 18:10 बजे कोलकाता पहुंचा देगी।

रांची में होनेवाली रेलवे की परीक्षा में परीक्षार्थियों की सुविधा के लिए दक्षिण पूर्व रेलवे की ओर से हटिया एवं पटना कि बीच स्पेशलट्रे न चलायी जाएगी। शुक्रवार को आसनसोल मंडल के जनसंपर्क विभाग की ओर से बताया गया कि परीक्षा में भाग लेनेवाले परीक्षार्थियों की सुविधा को लेकर दक्षिण पूर्व रेलवे प्रशासन की ओर से स्पेशल ट्रेन 05824/05823 हटिया से शुक्रवार 30 अगस्त, 20 सितंबर व 4 अक्टूबर को चलायी जाएगी। जबकि पटना से 31 अगस्त, 21 सितंबर, 5 अक्टूबर को चलेगी। जबकि दूसरी स्पेशल ट्रेन 05826/05825 हटिया से 1 सितंबर, 22 सितंबर एवं 6 अक्टूबर को चलेगी। जबकि पटना से 2, 23 सितंबर एवं 7 अक्टूबर को चलेगी। स्पेशल ट्रेन बोकारो, धनबाद, मधुपुर, मोकामा व फतुहा होकर पटना से हटिया के बीच चलेगी।

Along with the unceremonious exit of the Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, following charges of corruption, his gift to the region in the form of a railway link between Talwandi Sabo and Rama Mandi seems to have been put on the back-burner for at least some time now.Bansal had, in his maiden Union Railway Budget in February this year, announced to link Rama Mandi with Maur Mandi via Talwandi Sabo. The project, however, seems to have lost steam with the exit of the minister.Speaking to Bathinda Tribune, the Congress MLA from Talwandi Sabo, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, said, “I recently met the former railway minister and discussed the plan with him. He explained to me about various budgetary allocations and that the proposal would take some time to take a concrete form.”Agreeing that had Bansal been there, “the project would have moved faster”, he added, “The project might have been delayed, but it’s not dead. I understand that the preliminary survey for the railway link has already been conducted.”Jeet Mohinder Sidhu said if need be, he would take up the matter with the present Union Railway Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge. “I would take along a few MPs from Punjab and request the Union Minister to expedite the work on the rail link.”The rail link is important as Takht Sri Damdama Sahib is the only Takht which is not connected by a rail link. “All the other Takhts - Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Hazur Sahib (Nanded) and Sri Patna Sahib have railway connectivity. A rail link to Talwandi Sabo is also crucial considering the upcoming thermal plant in the region,” the MLA added.Meanwhile, the residents of the region, who had pined high hopes on Pawan Kumar Bansal, the first Union Railway Minister from Punjab, are eagerly awaiting news regarding the rail link.Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, said, “The Ministry of Railways cannot run away from the proposal made by a former railway minister while presenting the budget. If no work on the project starts any time soon, we may constitute a committee and take up the issue with the Central Government or the Ministry of Railways.”

India’s first cantilever bridge across the Palk Strait, connecting the mainland with the Rameswaram Island, suffered damage after the barge, crashed into the bridge in January.The Tamil Nadu Railway Police (TNRP) has completed the investigation into the crashing of a barge into the 100-year-old Pamban rail bridge in January and is all set to file the charge sheet against the five accused, including the Captain of the barge and the then Pamban port conservator, in the case.India’s first cantilever bridge across the Palk Strait, connecting the mainland with the Rameswaram Island, suffered damage after the barge, owned by Kolkotta-based Titagarh Marine crashed into the bridge after anchor failure.A tug boat was towing the barge from Kolkotta for handing it over to the Indian Navy in Karwar, when the mishap occurred on January 13. The barge was salvaged on the same day but train services remained suspended for a week following damage to one of the piers.After the TNRP registered a FIR, C.Vellaiyan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, TNRP, Madurai Division took up the investigation and completed it recently, holding the Captain of the vessel responsible for the mishap and decided to include the then Pamban port conservator as one of the five accused in the charge sheet.“We have completed the investigation and written to the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board to include the then Pamban port conservator as an accused in the case. After getting the clearance from the board, the charge sheet will be filed before the Judicial Magistrate Court, Rameswaram,” he told The Hindu. Apart from the Captain and the port conservator, the vessel Engineer, seaman and the agent of Titagarh Marine are also being charged in the case, he said.

Investigations revealed that there has been slackness on the part of the Captain and the crew leading to the mishap, Mr. Vellaiyan said adding the then Pamban port conservator (who has been transferred to Kannyakumari after the incident) was equally responsible for the mishap as he “had played the role of the agent” and tried in vain to remove the vessel before it rammed into the bridge, he said.

After registering the case in January, the TNRP took possession of the barge and arrested the Captain and seaman. However, it later handed over the barge to Titagarh Marine on the order of the JM court Rameswaram. The Captain and seaman were also released on bail.

Meanwhile, the Madurai Division of the Southern Railway claimed damages to the tune of Rs. 1.5 crore and denied permission to the tug boat and barge to pass through the bridge without paying the compensation. The row between Titagarh Marine and Southern Railway took a dramatic turn with the company taking out the barge via Sri Lanka in March. The matter pertaining to the compensation was pending before the Madurai bench of the Madras High court.

Southern Railway General Manager Rakesh Misra on Friday visited the Puducherry Railway station along with Divisional Railway Manager Manjula Rangarajan and other officials.

Misra reviewed construction of the fourth platform and the two road overbridges planned on the National Highway- 43 on 100-feet-road and at Arumparthapuram, besides other amenities.

While ruling out the construction of a new railway station for Puducherry, Misra said that with the decrease in funding from the allocated Rs 1,003 crore to Rs 550 crore, the works were moving at a slow pace. New trains from Puducherry to Kanyakumari, extension of Mangalore-Tiruchy Express to Puducherry and  a new train from Puducherry to Tirupati that was announced earlier would be introduced shortly, he said.

Manjula Rangarajan held discussions with the Chief Secretary and other officials of the Puducherry government regarding the projects.The tenders for constructing a road over bridge on100-feet-road have been floated.

However, the Puducherry government will have to contribute its share for the approach roads. A proposal for this has been moved to the Ministry of Urban Development for availing funds to the tune of Rs 40 crore under JNNURM, official sources said. 

For the road overbridge at Arumparthapuram, a similar proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for a funding of Rs 24 crore for construction of approach roads.

BAHRAICH: Ghaghra is flowing 87 centimetres above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge on Friday. The river submerged 20 metres of the railway track near Adampur-Rewali dam on Thursday night. The villagers have been asked to vacate the area.

Chief engineer, Saryu Canal, PC Mishra and other officials reached the spot. Orders were issued to remove the villagers of the area to safer places. The engineers vainly tried to save the guide spur but about 20 metres of the track was submerged late at night which created the danger on Lucknow-Gonda railway line and Bahraich-Lucknow highway. On Friday morning, efforts to divert the water current by putting boulders also went in vain. Later the initiative to start the construction of ring dam at a distance of about 100 meters was started and four Pokland machines have been engaged in the construction. Over 50,000 population of Mehsi and Kaiserganj tehsils are affected with the flood in Ghaghra.
