LUCKNOW: Divisional commissioner of Lucknow Sanjeev Saran held a meeting with Lucknow Development Authority vice chairman Asthabhuja Tewari and municipal commissioner RK Singh on Saturday to review the city's mobility plan. Saran instructed UP State Bridge Corporation to prepare proposals to make additional flyovers in the city under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme. The meeting was held to discuss better transport options according to the needs of growing population of the city. The projects will fetch 50% funds under the national scheme of JNNURM while the rest would be borne by the state. The state government is also promoting construction of many flyovers in the city. While it has already funded ROBs (railway over bridges) at Daliganj, Arjunganj, Loretto and Puraniya, it has proposed two more ROBs at Alamnagar and Malhaur. Daliganj ROB has already been completed in a record time of 9 months by the bridge corporation. Construction of other ROBs is in full swing. To make the transport system smooth, Urban Mass Transit Corporation has prepared comprehensive mobility plan for the city. |

AURANGABAD: The railway police on Saturday afternoon handed over two minor girls, who had run away from their homes in Jalna in the morning, to their relatives."The two girls, who were around 13 years of age and belonged to Jalna, about 60 km from here, ran away from home and were heading to Mumbai," said Rameshwar Gade, assistant police inspector, railway police station, Aurangabad."The girls said they fled because their parents forced them to study and asked them to do household chores," Gade said.Gade said the girls decided to run away on Saturday morning and caught a train to Mumbai, but soon realized that they had no means to survive and did not know what they would do in Mumbai. "The girls also started feeling hungry which made them get down from the train at Aurangabad station," he said. The duo then approached some policemen and alleged that they were kidnapped and had somehow managed to escape. However, the police found the story suspicious. "One of the girls had a school bag, further raising suspicion," Gade said. After sustained questioning, the girls admitted that they had escaped from home. "The girls feared that they would have to face the wrath of their parents and hence, came up with a fake story," Gade said. |
