रेलवे की शाही सवारी अर्थात सैलून डिब्बों को रेलवे ने आम यात्रियों के लिए खोल दिया था | प्रयोग के तौर पर रेलवे ने सबसे पहले दिल्ली से चलने वाली ट्रेन में लगाया था | परन्तु किराया अत्यधिक होने के कारण आज तक मात्र एक ही बुकिंग हुयी है वो भी दिल्ली से कटरा तक |
इन डिब्बों में यात्रा करने के लिए यात्रियों से रेलवे एसी प्रथम के किराये 18 गुना अधिक किराया मांग रहा है | उदाहरण के तौर पर दिल्ली से गोवा तक अगर आपको सैलून कोच में सफर करना है तो आपको तीन लाख रूपए तक चुकाने पड़ेंगे |
एक सैलून कोच में होटल जैसी व्यवस्था होती है - लिविंग रूम, दो एयर कंडीशन बैडरूम, डायनिंग एरिया, आत्ताच बाथरूम सहित तमाम सुविधाएं होती हैं | प्रत्येक कोच में आठ बेड होते हैं और हर कोच में अटेंडेंट भी उपलब्ध कराया जाता है | 
आइआसीटीसी को रेलवे ने 10 सैलून दिए थे जिसमे से अभी तक मात्र एक बुक हुआ है |

ग्वालियर और भोपाल के बीच सेमी हाई स्पीड ट्रेन चलाई जाएगी जो अगस्त से शुरू हो सकती है | ग्वालियर से भोपाल के बीच चलने वाली इस ट्रेन का ठहराव झाँसी, बिना और विदिशा हो सकते हैं | ट्रेन सुबह 06:30 बजे भोपाल से चलकर सुबह 11  बजे ग्वालियर पहुँच जाएगी जबकि ग्वालियर से इसी वापसी शाम 5 बजे होगी और रात 09:30 बजे भोपाल ये ट्रेन पहुँच जाएगी |
पश्चिम-मध्य रेलवे से टाइम-टेबल कमेटी को इसका प्रस्ताव भेजा जा रहा है जिसमे इस ट्रेन के लिए १३ डिब्बे लगाने की बात कही गयी है | वर्तमान में इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस ग्वालियर और भोपाल के बीच चलती है जो गुना होते हुए जाती है | ये मार्ग लम्बा होने के कारण समय ज्यादा लगता है | यात्री भी इस ट्रेन में दो टुकड़ों में सफर करते हैं | ग्वालियर के ज्यादातर यात्री शिवपुरी और गुना उतर जाते हैं जबकि गुना से ही भोपाल के लिए ज्यादातर यात्री चढ़ते हैं | कुछ ऐसा ही वापसी में भी होता है |
इन्ही सब कारणों की वजह से रेलवे नयी ट्रेन चलने की सोच रहा है जो ये सफर चार घंटे में पूरा कर ले | हालाँकि इस ट्रेन की अधिकतम गति 120 किमी प्रति घंटे से ज्यादा रहने की उम्मीद नहीं है |

To avoid any mishaps on all vulnerable unmanned crossings, railway has set up a committee that will rehire the retired employees familiar with the job. The decision of rehiring is taken because of staff crunch. 

Currently there are 5,792 unmanned level crossings across the rail network. Out of these there are 3,479 unmanned crossings are over broad gauge. After the tragic incident of Kushinagar in which 13 school children were killed, railway has decided that till the time it successfully eliminates all the unmanned level crossings by constructing low height subways (LHS), road over bridges (ROBs) and road under bridges (RUBs), all these crossings will remain manned.

The target to eliminate all the unmanned crossings was earlier set in the end of 2020 which now has been revised as 2019 - 20. 

Gujarat has maximum unmanned level crossings (1,700) followed by Uttar Pradesh (912), Bihar (742), Rajasthan (464) West Bengal (314) and Madhya Pradesh (255). 

Trial of automated red signal voice warning system in the motorman’s cabin has begun in Central Railway. This system will add an extra layer of safety on sub-urban trains. This will help to avoid red-signal jump that happens with momentary lapse of concentration.

AWS (Auxiliary Warning System) will also ensure that EMU trains will halt immediately after jumping a red signal. A buzzer will go on as soon as a yellow signal is crossed after which motorman has reduce the speed below 38kmph.

A CR official said, “We feel that the motormen are doing a good job in stressful conditions. Hence, an additional feature that will give out a message about the red signal ahead is currently being tried out.”

After successful trial and alterations thereafter, this system will be provided in all EMU rakes of sub-urban train services.

You can cancel you PRS counter ticket through IRCTC website in simple steps. The procedure is easy and you will also get your refund amount as per your convenience.

• A counter ticket can be cancelled between 4 hours and up to 4 hours prior to train departure.
• If you have RAC or wait-list ticket you can cancelled up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
• Visit IRCTC homepage on you computer and click on the counter ticket cancellation option.
• You will be asked to enter you PNR number along with Captcha displayed on the screen.
• Before submitting, you need to check the box that confirms you are iin agreement with rules and procedure.
• After submission you will receive OTP (One-Time-Password) on your registered mobile number with the website.
• Once you enter OTP and verify, details of your PNR will displayed on the screen.
• Thereafter you can cancel the ticket.
• Once cancelled, your refund amount will be displayed on the screen ans a SMS will be sent on your mobile with PNR and refund details.
• By providing SMS details on the PRS counter, you can collect your refund amount from journey station or nearby satellite PRS station counters.

Shree Mahalakshmi Swayam Sahayata Bachat Ghat (Ratnagiri) and TRAPIGO has joined hands with IRCTC to provide food on trains. The idea is to provide regional and local cuisines to passengers on trains.

TRAPIGO is a last mile ‘B2B’ logistics service provider for food products. With help of their own network and delivery boys, TRAPIGO ensures that quality of food delivered to customers. However to avail the services of TRAPIGO, a passenger has to order food through ‘Food-on-track’ app or IRCTC’s e-catering website http://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in. Once the order is received food will delivered by TRAPIGO with co-branded tapes, stickers etc. at a nominal fee of Rs. 15.

IRCTC has partnered TRAPIGO on pilot basis in Nagpur, however it plans to expand the service to other cities like Bhopal, Itarsi, Jhansi and New Delhi soon.

Shree Mahalakshmi Swayam Sahayata Bachat Ghat, a self-help group (SHG) empanelled with the IRCTC under the e-catering project at Ratnagiri, famous for its export-quality Alphonso mangoes, has shown interest in selling fresh and naturally ripened organic mangoes to the passengers.

A one way special train will run from Pune to Madgaon on June 8.


Train number 02011 will depart from Pune at 06:45 in the evening of Friday and will arrive Madgaon at 06:05 AM next day.


This special train will halt at following stations between Pune and Madgaon --


 Lonavala, Panvel, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi and Karmali stations.


Train composition -

• Total number of coaches - 15
• Second Seating Coaches - 11
• Chair Car coaches - 2
• SLR coaches - 2

More powers will be given to Directors of the five iconic Heritage Hill Railways of Indian Railways and to Divisional Railway Managers by Railway Ministry so that potential of tourism can be enhanced on Heritage trains.

In a directive issued by Railway Board; it mentions that opportunities to showcase culture, cuisine, art etc. will be encouraged through heritage railways. Divisional Railway Managers of different heritage railway zones can now treat it as separate activity which will help to increase profit. The division concerned can engage any suitable agency for designing, packaging and marketing of tourist packages.

Currently there are five hill heritage Railways -

• Kangra Valley Railway (KVR)
• Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR)
• Kalka Shimla Railway (KSR)
• Matheran Light Railway (MLR)
• Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR)

Southern Railway has eliminated Gollaprolu railway station as stoppage for Allepy express and Simhadri Express trains due to operational reasons. Accordingly -

• Train number 13351 Allepy - Dhanbad Express 
• Train number 13352 Dhanbad - Allepy Express
• Train number 17239 Guntur - Vishakhapatnam Simadhri Express

Railway has introduced another Antyodaya weekly train Express service; this time between Chennai Central and Santragachi.

The new Antyodaya train will commence its regular service from Chennai Central on June 6 and from Santragachi on June 11.

Antyodaya trains are comprised of 16 unreserved  general class coaches and run as superfast express train with fewer stoppages.

Schedule timings and stoppages will be as published in Southern Zone Time Table (SZRTT) in force from November, 2017.
