WR UNDERTAKES BLOCK FOR CC APRON WORK AT MUMBAI CENTRAL (MAIN LINE)


            Western Railway will undertake 60 days Block from 8.00hrs from 11.9.2013 at Mumbai Central Platform No 1 for repairs of CC Apron etc. The block will be for a period of 60 days from 11.09.2013 to 9.11.2013. Due to this work, the following trains will be short terminated during this period:

1.59442 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Passenger will be terminated at Dadar o­n PF No. 5 at 04.05 hrs. Due to this 12928 to be delayed for about 10" to 15" minutes.

2.12902 Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Gujarat mail will be terminated at Dadar o­n PF No. 6 at 06.00 hrs.

3.19012 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Gujarat Express will be terminated at Dadar o­n PF No. 5at 16.00 hrs.     

4.19024 Firozpur Janata Express will be terminated at Dadar.



            Passengers are requested to please take note of the above changes.

Protesting against lack of facilities in the railway colony and dilapidated houses there, the Uttar Railway Majdoor Union (URMU) Doon chapter on Wednesday staged a demonstration at the railway station here. The employees alleged that the department turned a blind eye towards the problem.Addressing the protestors, Doon URMU president KK Saxena said, “Several houses in the colony are in a dilapidated state. They are not worth living. The department is paying no attention towards the situation, even though the officials have been apprised of the situation several times.”Saxena expressed anguish over unresponsive approach of the officials. He said that the officials were apprised of the status several times, but all efforts to find their response into the matter fell to deaf ears. He also drew attention towards the poor condition of the roads in the colony.“Roads are bumpy in the colony. It may lead to accidents. Roads require immediate repairing. The officials have been apprised of the situation several times. However, nothing has happened into the matter,” Saxena said, adding that it was the unresponsive approach of the officials that made them protest as their humble efforts to draw the attention towards the matter failed to bring any result.He demanded that street lights in the colony are non functional. Several pockets in the colony go under dark cover during night. The lights should be repaired. “The department should take efforts to remove the various problems in the colony.  Street lights and roads should be repaired without delay,” Saxena said, adding that problems in the colony should be removed on top priority.

He said that even three moths after the death of ex shunting master, no compensation has been given to his kin. The department should give the compensation immediately.

MANGALORE: To clear extra rush of passengers, Vishakapatnam-Kollam-Vishakapatnam bi-weekly special trains (08569/08570) will start operation from September 8 to 30.

The train will be depart on Sundays and Thursdays from Vishakapatnam and on Mondays and Fridays from Kollam.

Train 08569 will start at 9am on Sundays and Thursdays from Vishakapatnam and will stop at Salem at 3.15am, Erode at 4.20am, Tirupur 5.13am and Coimbatore at 6.25am. It will reach Kollam at 2.10pm on Mondays and Fridays.

On the return direction, the train 08570 will start at 9pm on Mondays and Fridays from Kollam and will stop at Coimbatore at 5am, Tirupur at 6.30am, Erode at 6.55am and Salem at 7.55am and will reach Vishakapatnam at 1.35am on Wednesdays and Sundays.

CHENNAI: Passengers booked on a new train that was introduced between Chennai Egmore and Thanjavur had a tough time after the train that started from Egmore did not stop at Mambalam railway station on Sunday. However, railways have not taken action against the loco pilot because it was a rare occurrence.Sources said the driver realised the mistake soon after he crossed station and waited at Tambaram railway station till all passengers boarded. The passengers were brought by a suburban train and the loco pilot did not start the train till all of them boarded," an official said. He said the loco pilot had the list of scheduled stops, speed restrictions, stretches where train should be driven cautiously. "For some reason he missed the Mambalam stop."A majority of outbound trains from Egmore don't have a stop at Mambalam. This might have lead to the mistake, said a source. Only three or four outbound trains stop at Mambalam while all inbound trains stop at the railway station. It was the first day of the service when the loco pilot made the mistake. Uzhavan Express was introduced on September 1.

Efforts are under way to introduce express trains on the Salem-Karur broad gauge line, said Public Relations Officer (Salem Division) G.V. Venkatesan here. He was responding to report published in The Hindu on Monday based on queries raised by the Namakkal-based Makkal Sakthi Iyakkam.He said that the railways had provided basic amenities like drinking water, shelters, chairs, and toilets at the Namakkal Railway Station. If there was any lack in services, commuters could record their suggestions and grievances in a register available with the Station Master. Action would be taken on them immediately, he added. Referring to the extension of the functioning time of the railway ticket reservation counter at the station, he said that the time was decided based on the number of applications the counter processed.“Since the counter receives only 105 applications a day, the present timings are adequate to serve the needs of the passengers,” he added.

VADODARA: A man died after pieces of concrete from the ceiling fell on him at Godhra railway station in the early hours of Thursday. The man was rushed for treatment to Vadodara where he died.

Government Railway Police (GRP) officers at Godhra said the victim, Jogendra Chauhan, 42, was a resident of Rayti village in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh. Chauhan was on his way to Ratlam and decided to take rest at the waiting hall opposite the ticketing counters at the station till his train arrived.

"A large piece from the slab of the hall fell on his head and he was injured. He was given first aid and was rushed to Vadodara for further treatment. He died at the SSG Hospital there," said Godhra railway police inspector V T Solanki.

Solanki said a case of accidental death has been registered and further investigations are on.

In the return direction, the 08034 Anand Vihar T.- Santragachi (Weekly)  Express train will depart from Anand Vihar T. from 08.10.2013 to 26.11.2013 (8 trips) o­n every Tuesday at 01.30 p.m. to reach Santragachi at 07.30 p.m. the next day.
