VARANASI: IG, zone, GL Meena has been awarded the President's Police Medal for distinguished service. He would receive the medal on the Independence Day on Thursday. Meena is among seven police officers of the state who have been given this medal. Meena, started his carrier as a sociology lecturer. He was selected in Indian Police Services in 1987. Before being posted as IG of Varanasi Zone, he served as SP/SSP of different districts, including Varanasi.Apart from him the former SP, city, Vijay Bhushan, who is presently posted in the human rights cells of state police at Lucknow, has also been selected for President's medal for gallantry. He had received President's medal in 2008 and 2010 too. | ||
