Divisional Railway Manager of Hubli division Rahul Jain has said that steps will be taken to provide all amenities for passengers at the new Hubli Railway Station.He was speaking at a meeting of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) here on Tuesday.Mr. Jain said a suitable action plan would be chalked out to address the shortcomings at the new station. Earlier, DRUCC members pointed out the lack of facilities in the new station building and demanded drinking water facility for railway passengers.They also pointed out the need for an escalator. The members said that since the new station building was far from the old one, passengers with heavy luggage were facing hardships. They urged the Divisional Railway Manager to allow city buses to pick up passengers from, and drop them at, the new entrance.Other issues raised were revision of the schedule of the Yeshwantpur-Solapur train, restoration of passenger service from Bijapur to Hubli, provision of a goods shed in Bijapur, engaging more porters at the Hubli Railway Station, exploring the feasibility of providing battery-operated cars for carrying luggage, a connecting train for the people of Goa to the Haripriya Express at Londa, expediting the construction of a community hall at Vasco, provision of additional ticket counters at Koppal, Gadag and Bellary stations, providing the facility of piecemeal loading at Koppal station, and basic amenities at Koppal station. |
