Ludhiana: Playing hide-n-seek in a train proved costly for two boys from Rourkela in Odisha, as the Hira Kund Express Train brought them around 1,700km away from their native place. The two boys identified as Sher Singh (8) and Naval Kumar (9) were spotted crying at the Ludhiana Railway station at midnight. They told the police that they sat in a train while playing hide-n- seek on July 24. In the meantime, the train started chugging and left the Rourkela station."On that night, we slept empty stomach. But on July 25, we requested the passengers for food. They were kind enough and offered us "puri chholle". We asked for alms and brought more food in the afternoon. In the meantime, the train kept chugging. We were scared as fellow passengers could not understand our language. Finally, we decided to get down at the Ludhiana railway station," said Naval, as interpreted by the railway officials.Fortunately, the weeping children caught the attention of Yashwant Singh, inspector, Railway Protection Force (RPF).He offered them food and informed the child helpline. The boys were made to sleep in a guest room at a railway station and today they were handed over to the child helpline authorities. "We have established contacts with the RPF officials in Rourkela. I hope to establish contact with the parents of the missing children," said Yashwant. The incident has again brought to fore the indifferent attitude of Railway Officials as none of the railway employees travelling in the Hira Kund Express train, bothered to do anything for the missing children. |
