Due to heavy rail, train services were disrupted at Ernakulam South Railway Station. Signals were down due to flooding of tracks therefore manual operation were done to pass the trains. A rail official said that, "Express trains were preferred over passenger trains. As the operation was manual, it was a long wait for passenger trains and passengers until the line towards Kollam or Chengannur was cleared.

Ernakulam South was not able to communicate Tripunithura railway station properly and a continuous disruption was faced during rains. Due to disruption, there was lack of coordination, therefore control room was unable to move trains smoothly.

Passengers were the most affected during the entire time also there was anger among them due to lack of any information.
