Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday offered to give land for the development of railways industry in the state.Hooda was responding to a statement made by Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, which appeared in a section of the press on Sunday, asking the state governments of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh to give land to develop the railways industry. He appreciated Bansal's plan to develop railways industry on the pattern of West Bengal in states adjacent to Chandigarh and requested the Railways Ministry to send a team to choose appropriate land for this purpose.Haryana already has units of many multi-national companies and Public Sector Undertakings because of its distinct geographical location, which attracts the industry, he said. Also, the state government has implemented an investment and industrial-friendly policy, which was yielding encouraging results. With the setting up of railways industry in the state, not only auxiliary units would come up, but it would also generate ample employment opportunities and further strengthen the economy. He assured all cooperation of the state government for setting up of railways industry in the state. Hooda's Punjab counterpart, Parkash Singh Badal, on Sunday said the SAD-BJP government would respond "immediately and positively" to any proposal to set up railways industry in that state. |
