Rajya Rani Express derailment took a new turn when Government Railway Police (GRP) filed FIR against unidentified Indian Railway officers. This move is more of an embarrassment for Railways as it is for the first time in recent years any FIR was lodged against its officers and employees. According to GRP when they reached derailment site they found fractured railway track which later ATS and other eye-witness also confirmed. In FIR it has been categorically mentioned that Railway is responsible for the derailment. Railway has also ruled out any act of terror or sabotage. The Meerut-Lucknow 22454 was at a bridge over river Kosi, about 4 kms from Rampur and about 20 kms from Moradabad in Western UP, when the derailment happened. UP ATS officer said, “Welding joints chipped out between tracks separating them and causing derailment.” As per Railway 15 passengers got injured but eye-witness says that more than 60 passengers sustained injuries. | ||
