The state government will follow up with the Centre on securing No Objection Certificate from Ministry of Railways for widening of Rail Over Bridges at Nahur, Vikhroli and Vidyavihar suburban railway stations on the Central Railway section. This was stated by Minister of State for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav in legislative council while replying to supplementary queries raised on calling attention notice moved by Charanjitsingh Sapra (Congress).

Replying to queries, the minister denied that there was any delay on the part of the BMC in following up the matter with the railway authorities. In his written reply, Jadhav stated that the work of road widening on both the ends of the ROB at Nahur on the Mulund-Goregaon link was complete. Due to the narrow ROB at Nahur there is traffic jam. He added that the work of widening the ROB is on the railway land and it is the duty of the railway authority. Jadhav stated that the BMC has sent the General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) for the ROB to the railways and is awaiting clearance for the same.

Guidelines for media on rave party coverage The state government will frame guidelines for the media for coverage of busted rave parties, this was stated by Minister for Home R. R. Patil in the legislative council yesterday. Replying to supplementary queries raised on calling attention notice moved by Anil Bhosale (NCP) and others on the busted rave party at Oakwood Hotel at Juhu on May 20, he contended that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI was behind pushing drugs in these rave parties and using the money raised for terror activities in the country.

The ministers remarks on framing of guidelines for the media coverage of the busted rave parties followed as Dr Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena) wanted to know as to how some media persons land up at the place of the bust. Patil denied that the media was ever called during such raids. Gorhe contended that display of visuals of innocent youngsters leads to their public defamation. The Home Minister backed ACP (Social Service Branch) Vasant Dhoble who he argued was doing a good job. Patil added that the government will firmly back officials doing a good job. He added that the government will also issue a caution to such officers as to where they need to be cautious.

Dowry death cases The state government will hand over 5 per cent of suspected dowry death cases where the senior police officer one rank above the investigation officer feels that there is room for suspicion over the circumstances in which the death has occurred. This was stated by Minister for Home R. R. Patil while replying to supplementary queries over calling attention notice moved by Dr Neelam Gorhe (Shivsena).

He said that the cause of death in maximum number of dowry death cases has been due to explosion of the kitchen stove or due to the kitchen kerosene lamp falling on the victim. Giving details of the number of cases registered so far he said that 1,896 cases were registered in 2008, 1,998 cases were registered in 2009, 2,001 cases were registered in 2010 and 2,021 cases were registered in 2011. Patil remarked that the government will not tolerate such high incidents of dowry death cases in the state.
