Mafia | Ghadei junior threatens stir over poor railway amenities on 24 September, 2012 - 03:00 AM | |
Korei legislator Pritiranjan Ghadei on Friday threatened to launch an agitation if the Railway authorities do not concede his demands by this month-end.He is the son of senior BJD leader and former minister Prafulla Ghadei. His demands include stoppage of Express trains such as Rajdhani, Coromandel, Howrah-Kanyakumari, Guwahati-Chennai, Dibhrugarh-Chhenai, Howrah-Tiruchinapalli and Yeshwantpur-Bhagalpur at Jajpur- Keonjhar Road railway station, construction of a foot-over bridge, extension of some Express trains to Bhadrak, establishment of a Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office, parking area at the railway station, introduction of evening passenger train between Balasore and Bhubaneswar and display board at the station.“Jajpur-Keonjhar Road station is the only one that connects Kalinga Nagar. Moreover, thousands of people from Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar districts solely depend on this station. Though we have been demanding stoppage of Express trains here for the past couple of years, the authorities have turned a deaf ear,” Ghadei said.Adding to the passengers’ inconvenience is the lack of basic infrastructure such as toilets, parking and waiting room on the platform. Moreover, the demand for a foot over-bridge too is yet to be fulfilled, he added. |
