At present foreign tourists can book train tickets of Indian Railways 120 days prior to journey. Now government has extended this limit to 360 days for foreign tourists. The move is said to attract more foreign tourists and NRI travellers to travel though Indian Railways. Now according to new rule foreign travellers can book their tickets prior to 360 days in AC first, AC second and AC executive class of mail, express or other premier trains. It must be noted that this facility is not available for AC three and Sleeper class coaches. Besides this Foreigners are also not allowed to book tickets in Suvidha trains that cater to last minute travel planners. The aim is to provide adequate time to foreigners and NRIs to plan their holidays well in advance, said a senior Railway Ministry official. Rs 200 per ticket as service charge would be levied on these tickets. |
