Indian Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry into the incident occurred at Vadodara Railway station during a promotional event by Shahrukh Khan for his new upcoming film “Raees.” Fareed Khan Pathan, a 43 year old local Samajwadi Party Member, died of heart attack while few other citizens suffered injuries during the incident. Pathan came to meet his niece, a journalist with Bombay Times and was travelling with Shahrukh Khan. Railway police has registered a case of accidental death. Family members admitted that a few years ago Pathan underwent angioplasty. Two GRP personnel also fell unconscious due to suffocation and the platform was strewn with foot wear left behind fans. Vadodara Railway superintendent of police said that probe will look into security measures that were taken and will see if any lapses occurred; also we will check if permission was given to promote film and if the film promotion unit flouted any rules. Unprecedented scenes were witnessed at Vadodara station as large numbers turned up to catch a glimpse of the star who arrived at 10.40pm on Monday . SRK waved at the crowd from the door of the coach, but the fans went berserk when the train began leaving the platform. “People started running towards the train as they were expecting Shah Rukh to come out again. We had to resort to a lathicharge to keep people away from the moving train as it could have led to a major accident," according to a police official. |
