ALLAHABAD: Sleuths of Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of impostors and arrested two members near Allahabad railway junction. The GRP team has also seized fake passports and other documents from their possession. One uniform of Chhattisgarh police was also recovered from them.Officials said that the miscreants posing them as police officials had cheated several gullible youths on the pretext of arranging jobs abroad. While carrying out their nefarious designs, they used to assure victims for arranging passports.On Thursday, acting on a tip-off, GRP team led by Inspector Tripurari Pandey swung into action and trapped two impostors when they were roaming near Allahabad railway junction.The arrested persons were identified as Gufran Ahmad and Shahenshah Alam, residents of Kaushambi. Four passports, four fake police identity cards and various documents including photo copies of ration cards, PAN cards were recovered from them.Talking to TOI, GRP inspector told that these two imposters were involved in acts of duping people promising them to send abroad. They were also involved in making of fake passports. They also posed as policemen and threatened people.Police also added that they have been trying to ascertain as to how they managed the police uniform of Chhattisgarh police. A case has been lodged in this connection.
