MANGALORE: The Passenger ( MEMU-Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train hitherto operated between Coimbatore and Erode, and now extended up to Salem as announced in the current year's Railway Budget, was flagged off from Salem Railway Junction by Member of Parliament S Semmalai on Saturday. Regular services of the train would start from July 11.

Train No.66602 will leave Coimbatore Junction by 9.10 am and will stop en route at Erode at 11.20 am before reaching Salem at 12.45 pm. In the return direction, train No.66603 will start from Salem at 1.40 pm, will stop at Erode at 2.55 pm and reach Coimbatore back at 5.40 pm. Train fares for this train will be Rs.10 for Erode, Rs.18 for Tiruppur and Rs.24 for Coimbatore, from Salem.

The train will be operated six days a week, except Sundays.

The MP lauded the efforts of the Salem Division of Southern Railway in providing much needed train links like the present one, fulfilling the desires of the passengers from Salem region.
