A case has been registered under Prevention of Corruption Act against KL Bhoyar who is an assistant commercial manager at Central Railway. He has been accused for exchanging scrapped notes with new 2000 rupees notes and 100 rupee notes. The charge is that he exchanged a total of Rs. 8.2lakhs by simply walking into ticket booking offices at Mumbai CST. No arrests have been yet but when CBI conducted a search operation at Bhoyar’s house, the agency recovered Rs 2.2lakh cash in Rs 100 denomination and documents related to Rs 30lakh fixed deposits and other property related papers. An investigation is also on how Bhoyar came into the demonetised currency. It must be noted that this is not the first time this railway official came into light for corruption, in 2006, he was caught red handed in a bribery case but somehow he managed to escape due to lack of evidence. |
