KOLKATA: Two persons have been arrested on charges of trying to get a railway job through fraudulent means, thanks to special measures taken by the South Eastern Railway's vigilance department to check fake recruitment. Jagdev Kumar, a resident of Madhubani in Bihar, had applied for a railway job under the physically challenged quota. The written examination was conducted on September 16, 2012 and Kumar managed to clear it. On Wednesday, he along with other successful candidates were asked to report to Kolkata with all relevant documents to prove their eligibility. When Kumar's documents were being checked, an official pointed out that it was not he who had appeared for the written examination. Kumar was not aware that SER officials had videographed the written examination and were matching the faces of those who were to produce their documents on Wednesday. Initially, Kumar insisted that it was he who had appeared for the written examination. Finally, when the photograph was shown to him, the youth confessed that he had got somebody else to impersonate him.A search was carried out in the premises and Sashi Prakash, who had appeared for the written test on Kumar's behalf, was found and arrested. Both were handed over to officials of the West Port police station for prosecution. |
