Two years ago a woman lost her both legs at Khandala railway station while trying to board a moving train. Two years later now Bombay High Court has asked railways to grant compensation. Victim filed a petition against railways to grant her compensation in the Bombay High Court. Hearing the petition court asked railways to take decision soon. However Railway raised a technical issue and told high court that woman has an alternative remedy and she can approach Railways Claims Tribunal for compensation. Victim claims that on February 9, 2015 she was travelling on Secunderabad-Rajkot express train. At 3AM when train made a scheduled halt thieves entered her compartment and ran away with her purse. Victim got down and started chasing robbers but soon she has to abort the exercise as train started moving. While attempting to board the train the mishap took place and she lost both her legs. Later she filed a petition seeking compensation from Railways as it failed to provide security to the passengers travelling in night trains. |
