Continuing its drive against commuters without valid tickets, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur Division, conducted a massive ticket checking drive at Jairamnagar station.Officials claimed that the drive launched under the leadership of KV Ramana, Divisional Commercial Manager, the Bilaspur division, could collect fine to the tune of over Rs1 lakh from 322 ticket-less commuters. The drive was carried out in around 21 trains.In the meantime, Ramana appealed commuters having super-fast Monthly Season Ticket (MST) and other MST holder passengers to travel only in general compartment.The objective for such campaign is to maintain discipline and control the movement of passengers without valid tickets, officials said.The division has collected fine of over Rs33,000 from 111 commuters travelling without ticket, around Rs80,000 from 235 passengers travelling with invalid ticket and about Rs6,800 from 111 cases of invalid luggage booking, sources said.As a result of frequent ticket checking drive, about 15 per cent hike in selling of ticket has been marked in the division, claimed officials of Bilaspur division, adding that Division Commercial Manager accompanied with chief ticket inspector PC Majhi and VK Sinha, 11 jawans of Railway Protection Force and 19 ticket checking staffs smoothly executed massive ticket checking campaign.Officials called upon public to travel with valid ticket and purchase platform ticket before entering the railway station. |
