Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL), the flagship company of the US $2.5 billion Kalyani Group, has forayed into Indian Railways Sector. The railway business segment is an integral part of BFL's plan to grow with India's infrastructure development and is the cornerstone of its diversification strategy.Indian Railway has always imported its crankshaft, but recently for the first time it has placed an order with Bharat Forge. It is important to note here that, Bharat Forge is the only Crankshaft Manufacturer in India which caters to the Industrial Sector. Baba N Kalyani-led Bharat Forge Ltd has been already supplying a range of equipment to major rail network in the US & Europe.One of the world's largest buyers of equipment, Indian Railways is expected to make investment close to $20 billion over the next seven years and Bharat Forge is looking forward to bag many more such orders. Bharat Forge aims at becoming one of the top three railway component suppliers globally. The company is also executing, for the first time in India, a technology-intensive project involving mechanized laying of tracks within India's upcoming heavy axle load freight corridor. Such mechanised track laying is happening for the first time in India.Bharat Forge has a keen interest in modern locomotives, metro train systems, EMU and DMU, mechanical electrical components like traction motors and electronics including control systems, and project activities of such transport systems. It also aims for advanced technology maintenance systems for rolling stocks. |
