Personnel of Government Railway Police (GRP) and Excise department seized huge quantity of banned drugs amounting to Rs 5.05 crore being smuggled to Nagaland.Confirming the report GRP Station officer in-charge Salie Nagi said that the GRPS personnel seized 1,15,200 strips of banned Cetirizine HCI & Pseudoephedrine HCI tablets worth more than Rs5 crore in the international drugs market from Dimapur railway station on Tuesday night.Acting on a tip off that the contraband items packed in six boxes were to be delivered to Dimapur on Tuesday morning, his team of GRPS personnel impounded the drugs at Dimapur Railway Station.However, he said no arrest could be made as the owner of the consignment could not be traced.A case has been registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985 and the police were trying to trace the origin and owner of the consignment till the filing of this report, he said.In a separate incident, personnel of Excise Narcotic Cell seized 17,280 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon worth around Rs4,32,000 in the local market at Khuzama check gate, Kohima on Monday. | ||
