SILIGURI: An Assam government team on Monday visited train passengers who had been attacked and robbed by a group of miscreants near New Jalpaiguri on Saturday night.North Bengal Medical College and Hospital doctors said nine passengers were admitted on Sunday night. Three were shifted to a private clinic. "One underwent surgery. His condition is serious," said a doctor. Doctors said most of the injured had facial and head wounds after falling on the railway track.Assam Pollution Control Board chairman R M Dubey, a member of the team, said: "We spoke to the injured. Five of them are stable. We are in touch with their families and will take them to their relatives soon.Saturday night's attack had injured 13 passengers and four had succumbed to injuries.Security was beefed up on all trains following the incident. |
