Assam-bound trains have recorded a sudden surge in the passenger traffic during last couple of days following the month-old ethnic violence in Assam, involving the Bodo community and Muslim settlers.According to a Western Railway spokesperson, the waiting list in Assam-bound train had increased more than five-fold yesterday with 350 passengers on the waiting list on Okha-Gauhati Train.The railway authorities decided to attach two additional coaches to meet the extra rush. The authorities have decided to attach extra coaches today to Kamakhya Express Train to clear the additional rush towards the riots-torn region. General bogies are overflowing as a big crowd was trying to enter the train yesterday.Ajay Tomar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector 1, told UNI that though there has been no incident of rumour mongering or the ripple effect of Assam violence in this communally sensitive town, the police has been keeping a vigil to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
