Railway has formed a joint venture with Andhra Pradesh state government to lay down a new rail line that will connect Amravati to Vijayawada and Guntur directly. The estimated cost of the projects is Rs 2,680 crore for rail line of 106km. South Central Railway is undertaking several new projects like new rail lines, traffic facilities, doubling of lines, electrification etc. after most of the demands were granted this year. This will directly benefit Andhra Pradesh. Also this year South Central Railway has got Rs. 3034 crore fund for development against 2134 crore of last year. Among the top projects for SCR is the extension of Vijaywada-Gudivada line up to Machilipatnam deep water port. Apart from this funds have been allocated to development of various sections like Nadikudi-Srikalahasti, Kotipalli-Narsapur, Kadapa-Benguluru, Kakinada - Pithapuram, Obulavaripalle-Krishnapatnam, Guntur-Guntakal, Guntakal-Kalluru etc. |
