Following the failure of the Northern Power Grid, nine passenger trains were cancelled, one express train was diverted while 17 mail trains reached Ambala Cantonment station late by one to seven hours on Monday. The passengers remained stranded due to cancellation of trains and late arrival both of Up and Down trains.The train traffic was restored around noon after the grid fault was rectified. All nine passenger trains running between Ambala-Kurukshetra, Ambala-Nangal, Ambala-Amritsar, Ambala-Delhi, Saharanpur-Ludhiana were cancelled and no trains left Ambala for their destination. Daily passengers remained stranded and had to go by road. One express train, Amarpali, was diverted via Jakhal to reach Delhi.Seventeen express trains on both sides reached Ambala late by one to 6.45 hours. Jan Sewa Express running between Amritsar-Saharsa arrived late by 6.45 hours while Dadar Express was late by six hours. Amritsar-New Delhi Superfast and New Delhi-Kalka Superfast were late by 4.40 and 4.30 hours respectively. |
