Mafia | Ahmedabad-Mumbai double decker flagged off on 23 September, 2012 - 09:00 AM | |
Amdavadis’ long wait for a better train to Mumbai culminated with the flagging off the Double Decker Express train on Wednesday by the minister of state for Railways, Bharatsinh Solanki from Kalupur. Commuters, Western Railway officials as well as local BJP and Congress leaders attended the event at the station.Speaking on the occasion, Solanki said that along with 27 other trains running between city and Mumbai, this is an extraordinary train with excellent facilities at a low cost. “The train is completely air conditioned and has 54% more carrying capacity in each coach,” he said, adding, “A pantry car will also soon be added to the train.”Dr Kirit Solanki, BJP leader and member of Parliament from Ahmedabad (West), however, raised the question of no stoppage for the train at Maninagar station. Passengers from western Ahmedabad find it easier to reach Maninagar than Kalupur station during rush hours. |
