Yes, the train will commence its first journey on Wednesday from Kalupur Railway station at 4.30 pm and reach Mumbai Central at 1.30 am. However, on a regular basis, it will depart Ahmedabad at 6 am and reach Mumbai at 1 pm. Booking for the train starts today.While the train consists of AC chair class, its carrying capacity in one coach is 120 seats while that of Shatabdi Express is 78. A single ticket for the former will cost Rs471 as compared to the latter which is priced at Rs695. The fare to travel in this train will be Rs318 for Mumbai to Surat, Rs406 for Mumbai to Vadodara and Rs471 for Mumbai to Ahmedabad. The new super fast train will run six days a week and reach Mumbai in 7 hours. Shatabdi Express takes 6 hours and 45 minutes to cover the distance from Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central while Karnavati Express (super-fast train) takes 7 hours 45 minutes to traverse the 493-km stretch.At present, Western Railways (WR) runs 27 trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai apart from the 28 weekly trains through Central Railways to Ahmedabad via Vasai Road station. A WR official from Ahmedabad said that, “Each coach can accommodate 120 passengers and 70 among them will be on the lower level. The train will have a mini-pantry”. Plans are in the pipeline to make LCD screens available in the train to provide entertainment to the passengers on advertisement basis without any expense to the railways. |
