ALLAHABAD: After inspecting the rain-affected Kumbh Mela area on Sunday, Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary and Allahabad MP Rewati Raman Singh has urged the authorities to take up relief and rehabilitation work on a war footing. Stating that health department should take immediate steps to spray insecticides and provide medicines in the Mela area to prevent outbreak of any epidemic, he said public toilets which have broken down should be repaired at the earliest. Moreover, pits dug up for use as urinals should be covered up in order to prevent breeding of mosquitoes, he said.Media in-charge of the MP Vinay Kushwaha informed that Singh also called up union railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on phone and requested him to run additional trains from Allahabad to cope with the rush of returning devotees and kalpavasis.Meanwhile, national co-convenor, Panchayati Raj cell and senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogesh Shukla also visited the Mela area and took stock of problems faced by devotees and kalpavasis. He has requested the authorities to intervene in the matter and resolve the problems of devotees and Kalpavasis at the earliest. Shukla informed that a high powered fact-finding committee of the BJP comprising party MP, Lalji Tandon, Kesri Nath Tripathi, Yagya Dutt Sharma, Vindhyavasini Prasad, Yogesh Shukla, Uday Bhan Karvariya would visit the site of stampede at Allahabad junction on Monday and interact with the officials and public. | ||
