The CBI has arrested one more accused in the cash-for-posts scam in railways wherein former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla is an accused.

“Accused Sushil Daga was produced before the court on Monday and remanded to the CBI custody for two days as investigators wanted to confront him with documents and intercepted conversations,” said a CBI source.

Daga is the 10th accused to be arrested by the CBI. Investigators say that a part of bribe money allegedly paid on behalf of member (staff) railway board Mahesh Kumar to Vijay Singla and his associate Sandeep Goyal came from Daga. Besides, one of accused Vivek Kumar, who allegedly carried the bribe money from Delhi to Chandigarh, was an employee of Daga.

The CBI has alleged that Mahesh Kumar wanted to become member (electrical) of the railway board. Therefore he struck a deal with Sandeep Goyal and Vijay Singla through Bangalore-based railway contractor NR Manjunath for R10 crore to swing the posting for him. The post of member (electrical) was to get vacant in two months, therefore in the meanwhile Mahesh Kumar asked for additional charge of general manager (western railway) and signal and telecommunication.

Ranjit Sinha gets defamation notice
The secretary general of the All Indian Railway Protection Force Association, US Jha, has sent a defamation notice to CBI director Ranjit Sinha for allegedly making false allegations against him.  He has sought R51 lakh and an unconditional apology from Sinha within seven days for defaming him or else he would initiate criminal and civil proceedings against him.

The CBI had complained to the railway board that Jha was occupying three official accommodations in alleged violation of service rules. 
Jha claims that when Sinha was serving as the director general of the RPF, he had levelled serious charges of corruption against the CBI chief.
