The Western Railway will celebrate its 57th anniversary from April 13 to April 16. WR chief spokesperson Sharat Chandrayan said several events, including heritage shows, will be organised during the week.He said the exhibition will showcase the history of the WR and the history of narrow gauge system, which has completed 150 years. It will also exhibit the history and transition of DC local trains, which have been in service since last over 150 years.The entire electric traction of WR was converted to Alternative Current from Direct Current recently. Also scrolls depicting historical landmarks as well as interesting working models of vigilance control device (VCD), narrow gauge trains, old DC locals and present local trains etc. will be displayed.At least 10 books on railways will also be displayed at the exhibition.Envelopes and post cards on the theme have also been designed.A similar event is also being held at the Central Railway. |
