The Red Ribbon Express would visit Kanyakumari district on May 9, said the Collector in-charge, S. Palanisamy.Speaking at the preparedness meeting at the Collectorate on Friday, he said that the train would arrive at Kanyakumari railway station on May 9 and would be halted there for public viewing for three days.Cultural programmes and dramas on creating AIDS awareness would also be staged in and around various places in Kanyakumari. The Union Health Ministry with the aim of creating an awareness of AIDS among the people, was operating the train all over the country.The train would have photographs and pamphlets on AIDS awareness and modern treatment methods as well as lectures on National Rural Health Mission.It would have separate coaches to give counselling to people.Kanyakumari district co-ordinator (AIDS control), Indu Sivakumar, district project manager, Stella Jennet, Red Ribbon district manager, Moses Paul, and others attended the meeting.
