A circular garden with an area of 4,298 square metre in front of New Coochbehar station has made it to the Limca Book of Records as the biggest garden of the Indian Railways. Northeast Frontier (N F) Railway spokesman S Hajong said in a release that the Limca Book of Records has issued a certificate recognising this garden as the largest one in the Indian Railways network. During the year 1964-65, with the opening of Raninagar Jalpaiguri-New Bongaigaon Broad Gauge (BG) section, the New Coochbehar station came under this new alignment and gradually gained importance from the commercial point of view. It is a class A station of Alipurduar division of N F Railway, he said, adding that to give an aesthetic look to the station facade the circular garden has varieties of flowers and plants with a high mast tower light post in its middle. |
