Vellore Collector Ajay Yadav on Monday inaugurated a 6-day vehicle propaganda on the Red Ribbon Express which would arrive at the Vellore Cantonment Station here on May 26 for public viewing. The Red Ribbon Express is a mobile campaign-cum-exhibition on train on HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) awareness, being organised jointly by the Ministry of Railways, the National AIDS Control Organisation and the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society.The propaganda would be undertaken through four special vans which would carry out the work in 46 villages in Vellore district daily till May 26. The propaganda committee would comprise nine persons including a ‘thavil' artiste, five other artistes, a laboratory technician and a counsellor. The artistes would carry out propaganda through songs, dance and drama. Propaganda would also be carried out through autos, handbills and the media.The Collector said that special buses would be arranged from the New Bus Stand, Old Bus Stand and Chittoor Bus Stand to the Vellore Cantonment Station to enable the government officials, representatives of non-governmental organisations and the members of the general public to visit the awareness exhibition which would be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 26. |
