Kolkata: The Kolkata Metro has introduced an automatic signalling system with an aim of increasing the frequency of metro trains. The new system will also reduce the gap between two trains from six to five minutes. According to Metro Railway source, the new signalling system was initially introduced from Kavi Subhas (New Garia) station to Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) station. Later by the middle of this month it would be extended upto Dum Dum station.Last month, the Kolkata Metro had increased its services from 236 trains to 270 trains on weekdays. |
