Jaipur: Rail passengers travelling between Jaipur and Delhi can finally have reasons to rejoice. After a long wait, the test-run of the elusive double-decker air-conditioned train has been started on Saturday between Jaipur and Delhi Sarai Rohilla.According to North Western Railways (NWR) officials, the train left for Delhi from Jaipur at 8 am on Saturday with a proposed speed of 80 km/hr. It will depart for Jaipur from Delhi at 10.30 am on Sunday. Its expected time to reach Jaipur is 4.35 pm. The next day, the AC double-decker will leave Jaipur again for Delhi at 8.15 am with a proposed speed of 110 km/hr. The test-run will be finally over on April 17 with its departure from Delhi at 10.30 am to reach the destination at 3.35 pm. The air-conditioned wagons for the train reached Jaipur on Wednesday evening and the NWR authorities will give the green signal to its maiden run after the test-run is over in few days. The two AC double decker trains, one connecting Jaipur with Delhi and the other connecting Mumbai with Ahmedabad were announced by the then Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee during the 2011-12 Rail Budget. The 13-coach train was to have specially-designed double-decker coaches, with 70 percent more occupancy than the Shatabdi Express. Not only is non-availability of specially-designed coaches blocking the start of Delhi-Jaipur AC double-decker, but similar crunch has affected the Jaipur-Agra Shatabdi Express. |
