Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat drive took on September 17 as a part of Swachh Paryavaran Day by Indian railways. During the campaign, lots of cleaning and inspection work took place, which includes – quality check in trains, toilets inspection, availability of tools used to clean inside and outside train coaches, passenger-official interaction to maintain overall cleanliness of trains and railway platforms etc. The most noticeable fact during campaign was that as much as 15,000 passengers were fined by railway for littering. Almost 800 cases were filed at several Western railway stations in Bengaluru division, while rests were from other divisions of Indian railways across India. Besides cleaning activities, the motive behind campaign was to educate people towards maintaining cleanliness through anti-litter message. |
