A protest was staged by the truck owners and porters in the city on Wednesday demanding the railways to upgrade the facilities at its newly constructed goods shed.Addressing the protest meet, Ashwathnarayan, Secretary of Shimoga Railway Goods Shed Lorry Owners Association said that there was no proper amenities to load the goods to the trucks in the new shed. The new shed has no lighting facilities. The presence of trees and electric poles along the yard has made it difficult for the movement of vehicles. The construction material and debris disposed in the yard also has posed difficulty for the movement of trucks. The approach road to the goods shed is in bad condition. There is no ample space on the wharf due to which there was delay in loading and unloading work.Functionaries of Shimoga Railway Goods Shed Lorry Owners’ Association Nataraj and Krishne Gowda took part in the protest.
