Jammu: Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has been awarded two orders worth Rs 1,534 crore. The first order is for the construction of a 10.2-km tunnel on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line in Jammu and Kashmir.The second is Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) order for the expansion of a section of the National Highway-8 between Vadodara and Surat, which also includes the construction of a bridge over the Narmada river.The contract for construction of the 10.2-km tunnel (T48) on the Dharam-Qazigund section is a repeat order to HCC awarded by IRCON International Limited, which is engaged in constructing the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula railway line. This contract is worth Rs 884 crore and will be completed in 60 months. This will be the second largest tunnel in India. It follows the 10.96-km long Pir Panjal Tunnel between Qazigund and Banihal, which has also been built by HCC.The company claimed that the Pir Panjal tunnel between Jammu and Qazigund was nearing completion. Another orders an EPC contract from HCC Concessions, a subsidiary of HCC. This contract was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India to HCC Concessions in April this year for the six-laning of a section of NH-8 between Vadodara and Surat. — | ||
