The district administration has handed over 26 acres acquired for constructing the metro rail yard at Muttom to Kochi Metro Rail Limited, said District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth on Monday. The rest of the area needed will be handed over soon. A total of 41 acres has been acquired for the yard. Land for the metro rail is being acquired after vetting the documents and completing the compensation procedures. The 26 acres handed over to KMRL has been cleared through such a process. The price has been fixed at Rs.1.02 lakh for a cent there. The process of price fixation for land on which seven stations and three viaducts are to be constructed, is in the final stages. The district-level purchase committee will meet under the chairmanship of the District Collector before April 15 to finalise this.
