Railway officials booked 107 cases against ticketless and other forms of irregular travel during raids conducted on Friday in Guntur–Nagireddipalli section on five express trains (No-12747 Palnadu, 17229 & 17230 Sabari, 12806/12805 Janmabhoomi) and four ordinary trains (No-57218 Macherla–Bhimavaram, 57217 Guntur–Macherla, 77674 Kacheguda–Miryalaguda and 57651 Secunderabad–Repalle).The cases booked included 49 cases on persons travelling without tickets, 43 on those found travelling on irregular tickets (ordinary ticket holders in express trains, general and season ticket holders found in reserved class bogies etc.) and 46 persons for carrying un-booked luggage with them beyond the permissible weight.A total amount of Rs.31,864 was collected from them towards fare and penalty. In addition, ten persons found travelling without tickets were presented before the II class Judicial Magistrate for Railways where they were prosecuted and imposed a fine of Rs 2,700.Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Syam Sundar Rao stated in a press release that the raids would be intensified further in the coming days and warned that ticket-less travel will attract huge penalties and legal consequences.Passengers are requested to make use of the advance ticketing facility on UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) for general tickets to the destinations of minimum 200 kilometres to avoid last minute rush at booking counters. Season ticket holders can also avail this facility to renew their tickets without foregoing the benefit of full validity period of current tickets. | ||
